Subject: First Attempt at Object Source Lighting - Please let me know how I did!
First off, this was my first wizard I have ever painted, and I wanted to try Object source lighting. The video shows the figure prior to the OSL effect, and then after, what do you guys think???? Comments here or on youtube is most appreciated!
...I would like it more if the back of the model were darkened a bit in contrast. The crystal ball is intense. The best part of the paint job in my opinion.

Thanks Other Voices for your comment! The purples have much more contrast in hand. The camera seems to really wash out my blending that you don't really see it, and I was using a pretty bright light so your comment is valid for sure, just not so much if ya'd see it in hand

Do you happen to have a tutorial of how you did that?
I just attempted doing that for the first time also with a Lascannon....sadly mine does not look that good!

It's OK, great even at first glance, but it lacks direction, a common technical fault with a lot of OSL attempts. You have 'bendy light'. Good OSL is partly down to the light highlight blend, but also partly down to throwing shadows (more precisely the absence of the light) where they should be.
Looking at the mini closely, the ball (light source) is partially wrapped in cloth. This means it should throw light up and out at the front. The underside of the gripping hand should not receive the green light, nor should the inside of that sleeve, or from the looks of it the sleeve itself close to the ball.

Visible at 0:49 in your video, there appears to be (to my eye) a rim around it, with what appear to be cloth folds coming down and forward? Looks like a take on the 'palantir in a sack' / LotR reference.

Looking at the non OSL'd mini at about 0:20 I think that might be just a swirl! Def looks like a rim at 0:49 though!
But great mini as usual cat!
Need more 's in my life!
