Subject: Gundam Model scale vs DreadKnights

Hey Everyone. Just thought I'd share something I've been working on recently. I ordered a bunch( too many to be honest) of Mech Models from Hobbylink Japan recently. Great Store but man you get hammered in shipping. Anyway I got tow of these Gundam Models that I thought could kind of double as Imperial Guard or even Tau types of Dread-Knight sized Battle-suits if the scale was right. The first one I assembled was this Tieren Ground Type Mech. I love the look of this guy, as he looks like a walking tank. Here he is after assembly unpainted and compared to a Marine and a Dreadnought.
I just finished airbrushing him tonight using the Model Air Tank Colors and I'm pretty happy with the look so far. Next step is to seal him and wash and weather. I'm going to wait to do that until maybe after October 9th, as I'm attending a model weathering seminar that's being hosted by Vallejo and AK Interactive at my nearby hobby store. So I'm wondering , with the right weapons and armor conversions , would this make a suitable Dread-Knight Class Mech for IG or Tau in your opinion or is the scale alittle too big?

It looks a wee bit tall to be a dreadknight analog to me, but I bet it'd be a great size as a Knight being used alongside an IG Regiment.
Nicely done on the paint job too. Looking good.

Actually, it compares quite well size wise to my Dreadknight, you'd be surprised at Gundam's.

It's looks a little too big to me, I'd like to see a side by side comparison. Still a cool model though!

It looks like tau, but after Mat Ward's new Grey Knight fluff, even a Necron Lord riding a Carnifex seems possible in an Inquisition force.

from what i saw on a youtube video a Dread knight stands just over 4 inches in height. This model falls just under 5 i think. I'll confirm it when i get home. My idea was to mount a burst cannon under the left chest, maybe a missile pod over the right shoulder and either a rail gun or a large Fusion Blaster on the right arm. My friend had the idea to create drone launcher which i think would look good mounted on his back. And some sort of CC Weapon on the left arm. I'll have to sketch it out.

beautiful model, I am going to buy one...but question. What scale is it. I see three or four different scales. Also, Any idea if they any Warhound titan size (roughly) mechs? Maybe that old Rifleman (or is it the warhammer) battletech mech. Cannot find anything anywhere

this one is 1/144 scale. There is also a much bigger 1/100 scale which is bigger but i doubt it approaches Titan scale. There's also a 1/200 scale action figure that looks like its about 3 1/2 (9 cm) inches tall, maybe more to scale with DreadKnights. Sells on ebay and amazon for around $25-35$

Here's a DK's scale compared to a Dreadnought.
I just noticed how dusty my desk has gotten. Time to clean!

That is an impressively close size. It would be killer to see on the field

has anyone been able to find any gundams that have the feet with split toes like Tau? I think the Tieran above could be Tau but the feet don't seem to fit to me

Okay, I used to be a huge Gundam fan (still am, really), so here's my $0.02.
The 1/144 scales are going to be too big for a dreadnought, and just a hair too big for a dreadknight. If you had some of the American action figures (or M.S.I.A in Japan), they'd be somewhere between the size of a Dreadnought and a Dreadknight (a hair shorter).
The 1/100 scale MS would be about the same height as a titan, but not nearly the width of the Imperium titans. Eldar and especially Tau would work. I'll try to get some pics for reference this weekend.
If you want one that definitely falls into the titan size range, go for the 1/60th scale kits. ... But then, those are expensive, even if you can find one that's not Perfect Grade.
All that said, looking good from here!
