And if so, what faction will you be expanding?
I think I'm going to run with the Trolls for whenever the slow grow
league starts up locally. I REALLY wanted to paint Jarl Skud right after
Gencon, but I decided to hold off until the league because I had so
many models I could paint for the Trolls.
My goal will be to paint up:
*Fennblades
*Runeshapers
*Jarl Skud
*Fell Caller
*Mauler
*Bomber
*Swamp Troll
My intention is to score as many hobby points as possible.
What are your goals for the Journeyman League?

I just posted my Skorne Battlegroup that I got painted up for Journeyman (there's a link in the paint thread). Haven't decided where I am going from there. Gonna wait and see what is lacking after playing Fri. So far thinking of adding either: Beast handlers + Agonizer, or Basilisk Drake/Krea (not sure which), or Praetorian Swordsmen to make 15. Opinions?

Maybe base it on the environment.
Paingiver utility is far more useful when you're talking about beast on beast
action. But if you think you're going to come up against small arms fire then a Krea
would add some protection to your elephants.

Not sure if I want to stick with Kaya or switch out after week 3, but I plan on getting some Shifting Stones, and Druids.

I'm considering starting a Skorne force as well and from what I've been reading you can't go wrong with beast handlers and an agonizer. They seem to be almost must-haves in a Skorne army, much like the Choir for Menoth (my WarMachine army).

@MudgeBlack - I would go with the agonizer & beast handlers. The agonizer can affect jacks or beasts, and the beast handlers are such a staple that I pretty much choose warlock and subtract 3 points before building the rest of the army. (I may not always take my tortured baby elephant, but I cannot recall the last time I failed to take beast handlers.)
We will be running the journeyman, but I haven't decided on a faction yet. I think what I will do is make a list of everything I can field (hint: it's almost all of them), cross off what everyone else is running, and then roll a d8 (or whatever), and simply take whatever comes up.
(On a related note, in a couple of days, when some Everblight stuff comes in, I will be beyond the battlebox for everything except Khador - and that is only the case until the end of the month, tops.)

I really should get more Skorne stuff (and get what I have painted), but every time I'm at my FLGS I just can't help but be drawn to my old standby, Cryx. Maybe once my friend gets his Trollbloods put together I'll get off my duff and finish up Makeda and her crew. I mean, my Titan Gladiator is 90% painted any way. I just need to kick myself and stop painting Anima / Infinity minis.

Why stop Anima/Infinity? Those are sweet figs!
edit: Here's my suggestion.
When you paint Skorne, find anima/infinity figs that have similar color schemes
and paint those alongside them. You get 2x done in just a little over the same
amount of time.

My FLGS will be starting the league on Monday. Which is nice since I just started a Khador force. So far I only have my battlebox painted but I have to paint, Strakhov, riflemen, field gun, Kovnik Joe, wardog, widowmakers. I may be adding in some assault kommandos, man-o-war kovnik, full unit of Iron fang pikeman, Vlad, and Eiryss. I'm going for as many hobby points and game points as I possibly can. Really looking forwad to it.

If you are planning on running Morghoul as your lock don't bother with the Agonizer. You need to feed him fury and Morghoul doesn't have any to spare. Basilisk Drake is a great little support beast to add a bit of ranged element to the army. All of the bonuses to targetting you get from sprays are making him a great deal at 4 points.

That was my concern with the Agonizer, it was just more to fill the extra 2 pts (I suppose I could get another unit of handlers). Currently I am flopping between the 2 basilisk, krea for defense and drake for the spray like you mentioned (pow 14 spray is hard to turn down). I am working off of a PILE of skorne that I got a hell of a deal on so more just trying to work with what I have.

Yes, pMorg is light on fury, so once you start using the agonizer abilities (and draining its fury in the process), you probably won't be able to restock the fury bank. But, depending on your opponent and the board setup, you should be able to put a decent amount of fury on it in your first turn. It will certainly be more useful in some matches than others, but if you just want to fill 2 points, you might consider one of the other solos.

Also entering with Gators. Will eventually build it to include Full Gator Posse, Full Bog Trops, and perhaps a few solos. For the painting points, I do plan on painting up Wrongeye and Snapjaw (just finished Snapjaw, in fact), as well as the warlocks that I won't be using.
Here's Snapjaw:

He was super easy to paint. Took about an hour or so. Hooray for washes and progressive greens.

Well my FLGS had the first official day yesterday. Around half of all who signed up so about 12-13 players showed in the few hours I was there. Managed to get in 4 games, 2 wins and 2 losses. The main problem we had was not enough board space.

Thats where the hobby points come in, I lost all three of my games in the first week and am still at #3 out of 9 players. The win only counts for one point, painting a small base model for your faction (even if you don't field it) can offset that.
Here's our standings by faction for the first week
1 Cryx
2 Retrib
3 Skorne
4 Cryx
5 Menoth
6 Cryx
7 Khador
8 Cryx
9 unknown

No one else playing in the Journeyman? Its a great motivation to get some of that stuff sitting on your table painted or start that new faction you've been considering. Plus its a great opportunity for folks like me that suck out loud at playing (I blame it on the dice) to actually do ok in a league by getting some of that painting done making up for losses (that only count 1 point less than a win).
All of my group that I have talked to are having a great time with it.
While I am on my soap box, lets see some more pictures. I looked in the P & M blogs and there was only 1 thread on WarmaHordes, everything else was GW. I love seeing the things everyone is doing with their jacks and beasts.
I have been logging my progression in both painting and use of new figures within the league in a thread in the P & M blogs and would love to see more people doing this as I love getting info/ideas from other Dakkites out there.

3 friends who joined it are fairly new to the game. I think totalled together they have 20 games.
Its really helping them to learn the game.
It is also helping me to get some non-Cryx models painted, and I am learning about models I was unfamiliar with.
I hope to paint up all my Cygnar models. 40+ Hobby points!
