Been looking into different 40k armies and i want to collect one that just looks epic, so i ask you. What army do you think looks just epic on the battlefront? im talking model wise, pose wise and just general bad assery. An army that screams your screwed to the enemy.
An army so cool they could get away with wearing shades into battle lol

Many orks wear shades so i think they win automatically.

Tyranid, Ork and IG Swarm Armies-A massive wave of infantry jogging across the battle field, shooting and screaming is an epic visual.

Necrons-The idea of a slow, unrelenting mob of identical Terminators in space is pretty intimidating and therefore epic.

Vehicle/Tank Spam-Tank goodness is pretty epic.

Those are the most epic armies I can think of. Of course, if done right, any army can be epic. Its just easier to make those ones epic.

I think GK's can look pretty epic... esp a draigo/ paladin spam... the relative few hard as nails warriors vs the masses standing tall to meet what faces them... plus they are cheap comparativly as they are so points expensive (though 2 wound terminators with fnp they better be points heavy)

also as said an horde army while expensive... I have 180 ork boyz throw them down on a table at 1500 points.. it is quite a site in that point rating to have that many more models than your opponent

More than any army possible at 1500 points, with the possible exception of Guard.

Yeah I'd say to feel epic you either go with an army that fields a massiv amount of units (Guard, Orks) or for an army that is so elite that you can fit your entire army into your jacketpocket (TERMINATORS). That's why I play Guard with blobs and Dark Angels with about 15 soldiers

"Wait... wait... wait... NOW SHOTGUN THAT MOTHAF*****!!!" "I'd

I think that the army that makes you feel most epic is a fully painted one.

A full mechanized Imperial Guard army with 15 or more tanks.

Even though it's very epensive, there's little that can be as epic as a Mechanized IG with Steel Legion models

Ork hordes are quite awesome too. Or Speed Freaks. A few dozen crazy orks in bikes and some Wagons with spikey rollers of death!

I would argue that Chaos Space Marines are the most epic.

Genetically Engineered Super Soldiers, mutated by the twisted powers of chaos, and potentially accompanied by terrors from the abyssal realm of the warp like Greater Daemons, and Daemon Princes.

I think a monster mash chaos army (2 DPs, a greater daemon, 3 dreads, and 3 defilers is crazy epic. Huge, vicious war machines accompanied by Gigantic Daemons and super soldiers possessed by insatiable bloodlust... mmmmm

I would argue that two other Epic armies are
Tyranids and Eldar Wraithwall.

Both feature mighty monstrous creatures moving towards the enemy, while small infantry swarm around their feet.

How about Ork Mech? Kanwalls are pretty epic. Armored walkers covering a shitoad of boyz with belt-fed machineguns. Also, Battlewagon Spam list. Half a dozen tanks with giant spikey rollers and a bunch of howling boyz with choppas on top!

Various Ork armies, particualrly Mega hordes and huges Battlewagons brigades, especially if you have a ton of the cool IA8 stuff in it, so there is plenty of variety to go with you blitz. I think Orks can 8 Battlewagons and 9 buggies etc, but it's more fun to fit junkas and such in and say a grot tank battle mob (Taking five morale checks in one turn is not fun, believe me) and that's not mentioning the other four troops choices you have, concievably also in transports. There's also the possibility of jusk spamming light vehicles - 5 Junkas, 6 Trukks, 9 Buggies/Warkoptas and 15 Gun Trukks would look amazing arrayed against you.
The other army that looks really awesome on the tabletop is well-executed, unique Daemonzilla. The Daemons in general are really awesome, but particularly when you have 5 250+ point Monstrous creatures on the field laying into the enemy army, cornering mobile units... and all of them are obscenely tough. Personally, I think Fateweaver/LoC/Triple Tzeentch prince would be my favourite army to command.

Imperial guard - are far better then orks - orks look like a horde of dim witted spore creatures - I love them but come on they want to kill each other as much as they want to kill everyone else - could you imagine Creed being killed by his own men

points wise for around 2500 pts you can have 157 units 6 of them scout sentinels with las cannons (to take out those annoying vehicles - 6 should be enough to take out the major ones) the rest is filled with guardmens all kitted out with plasma guns and powerfist where available, platoon standards, med packs, melta bombs -

4 platoon (25 units each) and 3 stormtroopers squads 1 command squad and 1 primaris psyker .

I am sure if you fiddle around with the list you can fit in more vehicle and more guardsmens

but seriously to the OP ork horde, deff rolla waggin spam, or a kan and dread walker wall.

Or draigo and 2 squads of paladins loaded with upgrades. THAT is epic badd-ass'ness that makes it so you can walk around going "haters gonna hate"

In terms of appearance on the tabletop, either a massive horde of Orks or an IG force with lots of tanks and other armoured vehicles rolling into battle.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

The most intimidating list I've ever played against (visually and gaming wise) was an ork biker list. Heavily converted, good paintjob (not insane... just good) but death incarnate on the table top. Didn't work against everything, but when it did work, it was light's out by turn 3 every time.

The fact that the *whole army* could pretty much be wherever it wanted to be by turn two was very, very intimidating.

Get as many monoliths, pariahs and immortals as physically possible. Then add destroyers. And waves of warriors with a destroyer lord with res orb. And just to troll your opponent, stick a C'tan in there.

Try to imagine having to fight that

Given that to do that you would be well into APOC territory (you can't even field 120 warriors (with no backup or hq) in 2000 pts) they'd likely just bring a Titan or 5 and nuke your army with a giggle.

Horde IG looks awesome, backed by the tanks and artillery.

However, I'm going to throw this idea out there: All bike space marine army. Just think about it, 30 or 40 bikes screaming down on the enemy, all painted up in blinding white, not a scratch on them. It would be like Gandalf arrived at the end of the two towers movie.

Also: 1000 posts.

Titan Legion.

In realistic terms?

I love my Apoc IG army. Nothing feels more epic than sending a literal WAVE of infantrry and tanks forwards, while artillery pounds everything to rubble.
