Winged Kroot Vulture

Well. I really appreciate an army that is not only modeled and painted well, but also tells a story. On top of that, I want my CSM army to remain competitive, which in this day and age means: Pie & Lash. Here's my Night Lords list, and a rough (very WIP) fanfic paragraph of how this Warband came to be, and what direction it is headed. The list actually has 5 spare points. My defiler is magnetized, so I might just replace the flamer with a Havoc Launcher... not sure. Otherwise, the landraider can get a twinlinked bolter, or something like that. If there was 5 points to lose, I could change one of the squads to 2x Plasma Gun, instead of pure meltaspam, but given the mechy meta....... not sure. The List: Rison's Few; Night Lords CSM @ 2000p [1995] HQ Daemon Prince @ 155p Mark of Slaanesh, Wings, Lash Daemon Prince @ 155p Mark of Slaanesh, Wings, Lash Elites Mark of Slaanesh Terminators @ 450 1x Terminator /w Power Weapon & Combi-Melta 1x Terminator /w Chain Fist & Combi-Melta 2x Terminator /w Twin Lightning Claws 1x Terminator Champions /w Twin Lightning Claws Land Raider /w Extra Armor Troops 10x CSM /w 2x Meltagun, ICOCG @ 215p 1x Rhino 10x CSM /w 2x Meltagun, ICOCG @ 215p 1x Rhino 10x CSM /w 2x Meltagun, ICOCG @ 215p 1x Rhino 10x CSM /w 2x Meltagun, ICOCG @ 215p 1x Rhino Heavy Support 1x Defiler /w Reaper Autocannon & Twin Linked H. Flamer @ 150p 3x Obliterators @ 225p The Fluff: A shattered warband of Night Lords, having taken heavy casualties in combat, now comprised of only it's mechanized infantry force, is led by led by Demitrius Rison (represented by the Terminator Champion). Stranded on a tundra of blackened dust and molten tar and assumed to be dead by the greater Night Lords Legion, they are offered an alliance from a small cadre of heavily mutated Slaanesh worshiping renegades (Daemon Princes, Obliterators, Defiler, lots of human cultists not represented in the army list.), with the promise of assistance of leaving the wastes of this planet. The hulking mutants that lead the cult claim to know of the location of a downed, but serviceable Sword Class imperial frigate; Forever in his Name. Together, the cult and the Night Lords assault Forever in his Name, and take it for their own. Rison and his retinue take command, and rename the frigate In the Midnight Hour. He unites the cultists and the splintered Night Lords warband under his banner; Rison's Few. They break the backs of the imperial crew members, enslaving them, forcing them into servitude. The cultists serve as slave drivers, and an impromptu renegade guard regiment. The Night Lords work to train the cultists and crewmen who pledge fealty to Rison. Those who will not take an oath of fealty are enslaved to conduct hard labor toward the repair of In the Midnight Hour, or are killed outright as a message to any would-be dissenters amongst the ranks. In the Midnight Hour's former Captain; Cpt. Farken Dedlight, held captive by the twin hulking behemoths that once led the cult, finally breaks under torture, and submits to the will of Slaanesh. Disturbed by the officer's immediate level devotion, Rison watches the bridge constantly, under constant fear of Captain Dedlight pulling an intentional suicide manouver. The now-corrupted Captain proves to be a skilled Conning Officer, and serves In the Midnight Hour well. Rison's Few conduct numerous small raids, a stabbing needle into the soft belly of the Loyalist war machine, they experience marginal success in their raids, and recruitment efforts for their Renegade Regiment. Though glorious victory ensues for those who go to battle in midnight clad... all is not well. The powerful corruption seeping from the very walls of In the Midnight Hour and it's daemonic accouterments, begin to take it's toll. Rison himself begins having visions of Slaanesh's paradise of corruption in the warp, and the taint spreads to the rest of his retinue. The hard-nosed backbone of the warband is still the Night Lords mechanized squads, however, and the grumblings amongst them speak of corruption, and question if Rison is truly in control of his "Few". Is Rison a warlord on the rise? Or was the entire ascension to the stars for Rison's Few, from their chance meeting of the cultists, to the taking of Forever in his Name, guided by the cruel hand of Slaanesh? Only time will tell.
