I'd love to start Space Wolves but the trouble it takes to get all the special bits like the meltaguns and cyclone missile launchers and normal missile launchers makes it just not worth it.

I've suddenly craved a Mech Eldar army with tons of Scatter Lasers, and Eldrad...
And then I remember I already have Mech Dark Eldar.

Well, I often look at models as 'that'd be nice to paint; maybe I should build an army from it'

Then, I remember, it's much cheaper for me to just talk my friends into starting a new army and letting me paint a couple of figs.

Mostly cause I am curently waiting to ship out to bootcamp so I am waiting until after boot and schooling to start any armies. I have been wanting to start a chaos marine army but I am not a fan of the current way the codex is I like it better in 4th it seemed like it had more variety back then. Also demon princes were rightly feared in 4th and now I just laugh. I was thinking either iron warriors or night lords cause I love the novels and wanted to create a fluffy army.

I'm starting my second army now (Salamanders) and the only reason I did was because power armour models are the same across many codices...so in a pinch I can play four different codices or more. And having two armies is nice to show a friend how to play.

Reason I won't be starting another 40k army?

There are SO MANY other games out there, most of them better in terms of gameplay, models, pricing, and company support. The only thing that really keeps me in 40k is the background and the models are still really cool, plus there are 40k players everywhere.

It boils down to my money is better spent elsewhere in the hobby. Hell, I'd rather spend the money on BFG than 40k models these days.

White Scars - not convinced I can convert the army to the degree I'd want, but more importantly I am unsure that I could do a nice enough White.

As soon as I feel neither of those hurdles are an issue, I will be planning a White Scars force.

I tend to change armies i want to do often, so i fear that if i started an army id get tired of it in a week and move on.
That probably wont happen though and ill end up starting emporers children when i get some money.

I wanna start a Tau army, but I don't like the fluff and I feel that the book is a bit too old.

I could start a Space Wolves, Grey Knights, Blood Angels or even a Chaos Space Marines, but I am kinda tired of painting power armor. Give me time, though. I wanna do a Alpha Legion army but have most of the army in regular Space Marines type garb and some in Chaotic stuff. I did Renegade guard and that was fun, so I want to do the opposite and make a Chaos army no so much Chaotic.

Eldar, Not interested. I have a Dark Eldar army and I like them better anyway.

Tyrinids? I was thinking about it, but I did some investigation and the rules and fluff ruined it for me.

Space.

I have a 10 by 10 dungeon room...erm i mean game room that's currently holding a 17000 pt waagh (no superheavies..yet), Most of the denizens of a Necron tombworld (5000 pts or so? ), 2500 pts of Dark Eldar and about 3000 Pts of Craftworld Eldar.

It's a bit cramped as is, since it also holds all my terrain, tools, paints, a desk full of D and D figs, my bitz crates, avbout 300 D and D books (and Pathfinder included as D and D) and about 50 other systems/sourcebooks for those systems..

Plus a 6 x 4 gaming table

If I add much more to the ones i have, let alone add ANOTHER new army, i'll achieve a somewhat nerdy critical mass..

Edit: Oh, and a mixed bag of assorted Black Templars .. forgot those

Salamanders.

I want to rebuild by Salamanders using Forgeworld bits - Rhino and Land Raider conversion packs, mixed armour variants, mixed heresy era weapons, Salamanders shoulder pads, dreadnoughts, etc.

Then I remembered I'd never do it justice because my painting still isn't that great, and I'd lack the enthusiasm to really make a start due to not having a whole lot of hobby time.

I might, when I 'finish' my Tyranids (ie get them to about 2000 points and a few more Forgeworld nasties) and my Vampire Counts (ie get them to about 3000 points).

The only things keeping me from starting a new army are:

1. Time. (Not a lot of free time right now that isn't spent on my current armies, which I enjoy).
2. Money. (I'd have buyer's remorse if I bought somthing new and didn't play with it for a year. Plus, that would be silly.)

If you have the time and the money, knock yourself out, man.

Whats the one thing stopping you from starting another army that you want besides money and time? So essentially, what's the third biggest reason you're not starting another army? A strange question.

Yeah I dont get this thread.. The two biggest issues are generally money and/or time.

I suppose the only other answer could be motivation.

The one thing thats stopping me from starting another army besides money and time is that there aren't any other "Good Aligned" armies that I want to play.

Right now I play Space Marines, Blood Angels, Grey Knights, Imperial Guard, and Eldar. As you can tell I like to stick with the "Good Aligned" armies, and more so I like non-Xenos armies (my exception being Eldar). The only other good aligned army is Tau and I refuse to play them because they aren't competitve. Once the new Tau Codex hits shelves it's gonna be HELLO army number 6!
