I was yesterday thinking about the officers (champions) names in my Iron Warriors force, and when I pondered what I had made up I thought they sounded a bit italian or similar. Does that go badly with what IW:s theme is (i.e. is there a chapter/warband where italian-like names fit better)? Because if so is the case, I think a little that I'd rather save them for later...
In any case, here's the names:
- Shymant Bellephron
- Varian Luchinos
- Aaron Silencus
- Dolores C. Rana (not a marine)
- Marcellus Gram

Dunno about the Iron Warriors in the fluff, but Perturabo's name is cod-Latin, meaning 'I will endure' (it should strictly be Perdurabo). I presume that it was chosen by the studio because it was the 'occult name' (imagine sinister music) used by Aleister Crowley, late-19th/early-20th century occultist, self-publicist, sybarite and mountaineer. The pseudonyms taken on by other members of the Order of the Golden Dawn (Victorian occultists responsible for all manner of new-age guff) might be a good source to tap.
As for the names you've listed, Bellerophon is Greek, Aaron is Hebrew, the rest are Latin or made-up sci-fi names; none of them are, strictly speaking, Italian.

Well, considering Marines are modelled on Romans...... I mean, that's a quick jump from Latin to Italian, even in Chaos Marines.

'Ragnar Blackmane' is a good, traditional Roman name from way back...

Was that speaking directed to me? No, the name I came up with was Shymant Bellephron, though I suppose your version sounds good as well.

Yeah it was. Bellerophan rode Pegasus. I was just asking because you were two letters away.
Bellius is a pretty good name too, as in Bellicose. Pretty much anything with Bellus in it.

Hmm, noticed that there where many other IW characters with greek-sounding names (Berossus, Kolvax etc) so I suppose I could creecify them names I have a bit. Good then.
