Subject: Paint Converter 1.2 up on the Android marketplace and Apple app store
I've created an application used to easily convert from Citadel to (so far) Vallejo Game, Vallejo Model, and Reaper Master Series paints-- and vice versa.
v1.2 UPDATE (11/23/2011):
***iPHONE VERSION REQUIRES iOS 5 OR LATER***
- Changed some UI elements in the iPhone version
- Allows custom editing for paint range entries via long pressing the buttons.
- Paint range reset and entry resets available via swiping the buttons.
KNOWN ISSUES:
None known so far with v1.2
Here's a preview:
Color matching is an ongoing process so bear with me-- for now, some of the color matches might not be 100% accurate. If you'd like to see another range implemented, just let me know in this thread.
A big thanks to the "Paint Range Compatibility Chart" right here on our very own Dakka and to anyone who has contributed to it. Although I find much of it to be somewhat inaccurate, it has proven to be an excellent starting point.
Added to iTunes 9/21/2011

I did a lot of research on the colors using various conversion tools on the web. It's pretty accurate for Vallejo as var as I know and contains every color available. I'll make the document public.

Alrighty, I'll start working on them.

It sounds like a great little app that I'll be picking up when it comes out for the iPhone.
Any chance as a future expansion we could add in the paints we already own, the paints we want to own and custom colour palettes that can be exported as an image, including the relevant colour codes for each brand?
It'd be nice to be able to build up a colour palette while I'm out and then see if I already own the paints. The number of times I've come home with yet another pot of Scab Red when I've meant to buy Blood Red...
It's actually the reason I created the spreadsheet as a google doc, so I could open it up on my iphone when I was at the store and quickly see which paints I was missing / out of.

I do this all the time but I usually don't notice right away so I never take them back. Also, I'm interested in Vallejo Model Air.

This is all interesting stuff...Any other good "Model related" Android Apps? I think the Gallery with Turbo Voting App would be a great little app for Dakka.
Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

I'll be adding Coat d'Arms, P3, and Model Air paints in the next update. Also, I'll be adding functionality that allows you to choose which paint ranges you wish to be displayed for conversion.
Edit: Thanks for the typo report xD Will fix that too.

Another few thoughts to make your nifty little app explode and grow beyond it's intended use and thus become overburdened
1) P3 and Reaper have triads/standard highlight sets that would be nice to be able to reference.
2) It would also be nifty if we could take a photo of a mini, choose colours we used on it, list a few notes (for methods and such), and save it as a paint scheme/export to a file on a computer. It would be even niftier if we could share, but I'd settle for being able to remember how I did a paint scheme 3 years from now.
Thanks for asking for feedback, and thanks even more for adding Coat d'Arms as well as P3.

I'm nearly finished with the iPhone version, however I'm sorry to say that Apple takes a couple weeks to review submitted apps and approve them for download. So... The iPhone version will probably be available in a week or two on iTunes.

I use an app called Catch just for this. allows notes and multiple pictures its editable from both pc and mobile. but the feature I find most useful is you can add and search notes via tags
eg on my ork skin note i would have the tags #Skin #Ork so I can search via either term.
Paint Converter, Great App Thanks

Almost done with the iPhone version. It's going to work a little differently. Apple's app review team is very nit-picky about devs going outside of Apple's own UI conventions, so I had to go about things a little differently. The end result should be nearly identical, however. Here is where I'm at currently (pay no mind to the ugly placeholder buttons):
I'll submit it probably in a few days.

Alrighty the iPhone's initial release is done. I'm going to make new graphics and keep tweeking the UI, but I've reached a point where I feel it can be released. Just waiting for Apple to approve it now.

There are many apps in existence that do just that, though they translate to colors not typically found in the ranges popular with tabletop wargamers. I think something like that could be possible for this app in the future.
Also, thanks everyone for writing positive reviews and giving the app good ratings on the market!
