So I've just finished watching it and I must say I was rather freaked out by the footage they claim is real. I was really actually believing it, thinking I might be abducted soon enough but a quick google search showed the whole thing was a load of staged bullsh.
I was just wondering what was your reaction to this movie and how did it make you feel about the possibility of aliens?
You thought it was real? Its just like The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal, Cloverfield, and all those other films that are shot as documentaries. Theres an entire genre of film like this called mockumentary. Usually if its in a movie theater, its most likely a mockumentary, unless its by Michael Moore, then its just a joke.
Anyway, I haven't seen it, but considering that I've err... had some... issues... in regards to alien abduction... in the past..., I think I'll steer clear of it, I enjoy being able to sleep peacefully thank you.

Well it was a rather convincing mockumentry and a good horror movie of sorts. Still... it keeps me up at night 0____0.
Also it wasn't quite like Paranormal activity, cloverfield or Blair witch. It was actually set out in a documentry style with supposedly real footage, interviews, explanations, renactments and even a warning from the actors at the start and the end of the movie questioning whether you will believe this story. So yeah, was a rather well done but I had my doubts about it from start to finish.

The best stuff in that genre has to be the ZSG and WWZ.

It actually says in the ending credits that it is all faked.
But personally I thought it was a damn good movie, one of the creepiest parts is near the end when the UFO transmission starts blasting out of the woman's mouth, that whitenoise & wierd voice haunts me to this day...
The bit where the alien says 'I....Am....God....' at the end of the speech

And that is why you hear people yelling FOR THE EMPEROR rather than FOR LOGICAL AND QUANTIFIABLE BASED DECISIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE MAJORITY!

I thought it was OK.. but, since it was all fake, I would have rather they just made it like a normal movie shot documentary style instead of "Here's the hot actress playing the not as hot actress playing someone who never existed" thing.
But I agree about the alien transmission parts at the end.
I've been watching Ancient Aliens on the history channel lately, pretty interesting stuff there.
I watch Ancient Aliens just to get a laugh. It is fun to see what the psudoscience whack-a-dos are tinkering with. I can't believe I missed that dude! MoD do you remember which episode, because I will totally On Demand it.
Can't help but think of...
Edit: Oh yeah, the Fourth Kind - Overall, I like Sci-Fi Horror so thought that was well done. I thought it was a cool movie. Started watching it because I saw the Chapman University symbol. I grew up a few miles from the real Chapman University, so watched out of curiosity. I think the mockumentary concept is a bit old at this point, though.

Seriously, with that hair??? I have to start actually watching, instead of just listening while cruising Dakka.
Edit to stay on topic: I thought it kind of cool that The Fourth Kind used Chapman University, because it is a Christian college that provided classes in Aramaic (or at least did 10 - 15 years ago). My linguistics teacher at Cal State taught Aramaic both at my school and Chapman U.
So, I actually started watching The Fourth Kind thinking it might have been my linguistics prof. I kept watching, waiting for the guy's name on the movie, and started doubting when his "screen name" was very African sounding. That would be trying too hard to obscure his identity since the real guy certainly did not have an African sounding name. I started googling, and then the obviously fictitious stuff started happening in the movie, and I was like, oh, heh heh, got me!

Possibility?
There are an infinite number of galaxies outside our own. Anyone that claims to doubt the existance of extraterrestrial life is either a moron or a liar. The real questions are who is going to find who first, and will we find any -intelligent- life.

I dislike Ancient Aliens.
It's clutching at staws, straws made of sand, on a windy day... in the dark.
I'm sure they exist in some form, but I doubt that they have been here at any point.
Whoa whoa whoa..... cool it with the anti Ancient Alien trash your talkin.... Or its gunna get real in here
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh yea forgot to leave an op topic something or nother. Ya I thought it was a pretty decent flick. The spooky white noise crap got to me though, mainly because for some reason, anything that sounds like that just creeps me out. If a CD gets stuck while playing and does that constant repeat of the same 1/2 sec sound thing....that just freaks me out for some reason. Its easily my kryptonite. Im getting the chills just thinking about it

Yep, with that hair.
And to put it in perspective...

He didn't always have the Crazy Hair either.
Here he is, with an alien...
He was a promoter for International Federation of Bodybuilding for awhile, apparently.
Not to mention, the first season of Ancient Aliens, his hair started off looking pretty normal, then it went all crazy. Either he needs a new hairy squig, or its for ratings....wonder which one is more likely

That movie was good fun. Saw it quite awhile back.
For mockumentary fans, look for Spinal Tap.
Another classic is called The Rutles: All You Need is Cash.
