I played agaisnt a very good tournament player, he recently played in the Euro tournament and is one of the Admins on "Space Wolf Blog", and to combat my 3 packs of Long fangs all with Missile Launchers, he just used EXACTLY THE SAME, and shot at my Long Fangs, he has first turn, just by sheer numbers of dice i lost 7 guys, spread across 3 packs... it was cataclysmic.

Assuming missiles in the long fangs, then armour 14 is almost missile proof.
As a Nid player, I find genestealers do the job nicely.

Long fangs have a 3+ save and 4+ cover save.
In the squad there are no real bullet catchers, so as soon as they start taking causalities they lose effectiveness.
As such, you can target them with just about anything for effect. Your own long fangs are really good examples. Krak missiles will kill them pretty quickly, even with a 4+ cover save.

Agreed. Any plan you have in place to kill any armies long range support will kill Long Fangs just as easily. Just know that Long Fangs are alot more deadly than most.

For Eldar, massed scatterlasers can cripple a long fang unit from 36" away (plus a 6 or 12" move before that). Just overwhelm them with str6 wounds, and eventually they fail armor saves, and they only need to fail a few wounds to lose effectiveness.

Mech Eldar with scatter lasers getting first turn can decimate LFs quickly.
Sanguinary Guard is almost immune to ml spam. BA Vanguard Vets with jump packs can eventually charge upon arrival and so tie them up for a while.

I find my Vanguard and my Sternguard very useful.
Drop pods! Long Fangs look up "OH BALLOX!"
Vanguards slaughter long fangs another drop pod arrives sternguard open fire with their ap3 weapons and slaughter the remainder of the long fang squads.
Drop lists work well.

Are you suggesting drop podding venguard or a suicidally close deepstrike?
How many sternguard?
If you have too many drop pods he will go full reserve and your list becomes unbearable.

Him going full reserve with 3 squads of long fangs means it is at least turn 3 before any of them get to fire, and that's if he is lucky. Once he comes on he has to weather a round of shooting, and possible assaults. Not to meantion, more than likely his long fangs will come on 1 unit at a time futher reducing their effectiveness. Which I belive is a good counter to Long Fangs.

The OP is asking for advice as a Space Wolves player so posting about deffkoptas and scatter lasers isnt going to help him all that much. If you run TWC you can get to them rather quickly and make short work of them. Need to see your list of what you normally run would help. For orks I would try and counter them with a couple of suicide koptas. If I get first turn then scout and assault, if I'm second then flank them and catch them on the sides. It might not kill them but it should tie them up for a turn. This tactic works pretty good for me I've take out whole broadside squads doing this.

For wolf on wolf action TWC or wolf scouts.
My vote is wolf scouts. Either leave at least 1 long fang unit untouched by your own firepower and wipe it out, or leave 2 long fang units untouched if they are deployed close enough to each other for a multi charge by the wolf scouts. As far as the other long fangs go just shoot at them, the real question becomes how much krak/living lightning do you dump into the long fangs and how much into the razorbacks?

I also suggest wolf scouts. They can get to those long fangs hiding along the board edge or in cover. The wolf scouts may take them out or at least tie the long fangs up. Long fangs not shooting at you is just as good as killing them. Just make sure you give your scouts a wolf guard pack leader with powerfist and combi-melta. This guy adds a lot of killing power for not too many points.

Actually, he's asking what people use to kill Long Fangs. Since he is a Space Wolves player, he wants to know how to counter things that kill Long Fangs.

But you have countered the counter. They will be free.
Seriously you need to fully reserve against heavily drop pod armies. They are lucky if they thought to bring anything long range and you'll be ok.
The alternative is loosing most of your army. Take space wolves they can drop grey hunters with 3 melta shots so all your tanks will die. They then have 3+ armour and counter charge so the remaining forces will not be able to push them over.
It will take at least three drop pods to take out all the long fangs probably more. Now we are looking at full on deepstrike army.

I don't think you understand what I was saying, and I really don't understand what you are saying.
If he is playing SW, w 3 squads of Long Fangs, and I am playing a drop pod heavy army and he reserves everything, then I have countered his Long fangs. The reason is it will be turn 3 before they get to shot. I took them out of action for half the battle.

Lootas, point for point, are a compareable counter to Long Fangs (and SWs in general).
3 units of long fangs will run around 450 points, the same cost as 2 units of 15 lootas.
Long Fangs: 15 missiles, say avg of 4 hits per missile, with 2/3 of missiles hitting, = 40 hits, 20 wounds, 10 dead after cover.
Lootas: 60 shots (avg), 20 hits, 17ish wounds, 6ish dead.
So either way, about a 1/3 loss in effectiveness if you get to shoot first.

Fine you may have took out the long fangs out the game but now a huge percentage of your force is with transportation with short ranged weapons and dotted around. Assuming you went for a balanced list your antitank will be mostly meltas in drop pods. If not then sure I would not worry about your drop threat.

Reading! It halps lots
Last couple of times I played vs wolves I (wolves myself  ) used a LRC at gutted them with a torrent of fire. As CSM, I was playing silly and used str7 chosen (4xplasma, 1 autocannon) infiltrated (with an icon, termicide guiding squad) and I and my opponent was surprised at the effectiveness of it...
But then again, a 6 man squad of marines? Anything that can throw a bunch of wounds on them, so they have to make lots of 3+/4+ saves works. Like a LRC
