IMHO, the LOTR balrog wings have been coveted for that. I have a set myself and they look fantastic. haven't finished the model yet, but they're awesome wings.

Give him some of the wings off of the Gargoyles, for the lulz.

you can always make your own.

just use some tissue paper and attach it to some toothpicks or some type of balsa framing and then use some green stuff to detail it

I guess GW has a page of wings to choose from too. If for some reason you wanna be SENSIBLE about it or something.

The Daemon Prince wings or Baelrog wings would both probably work, little bit of greenstuff to make it a little more Nid-y.

The tiny wings idea can be pretty hysterical, I've actually been tempted recently to do likewise with a new Daemon Prince of Slaanesh... big purple beast with tiny little cupid wings.

The "fairy" wings posted would actually work really well if painted correctly. Some of them could easy be seen as insect wings, and Nids can be bugs. Imagine the terror of hearing the hum of a giant dragonfly's wings as it approaches you. If you want a really original looking winged Tyrant, try using two sets of the bottom right wings of the Reapermini wings posted above, like I said, like a dragonfly.

Haha. The fairy wings could work out surprisingly well...if they weren't sized for something the size of an elf or a grot. As is, they'd be comically small. It was a joke. Mostly.

If you can get some transparent plastic, I always found that oversized dragonfly wings looked the best on Tyranids. We've got a local player who did that, and they look AWESOME.

Pictures please? It sounds very interesting.

the balrog wings are massive I agree.

the dragonfly and beetle wings idea is simply awesome. very true to life and much more bug than monster. and I kinda like that.

my theory is this, the nids evolved from creatures on other planets DNA samples taking traits and weaponizing them.

if the base creature was quite obviously some sort of reptile, then it should have reptilian style wings (and before anyone goes crazy yes I understand there aren't very many flying reptiles anymore) think dragons and dinosaurs.

anything thats mostly warm blooded in nature, should have flying mammal style wings.

now thats just my perspective, not a rule.

it just helps enter the idea a little more seamlessly into the fray.
