Alright, I was playing my Warriors of Chaos against a Tomb King army. We ran into a strange situation where my Chaos Lord charged his Chariot Squad from the rear, and my 4 strong Chaos Knights attacked him from the front. My Lord challenged his Tomb Prince, and neither inflicted wounds on each other. My Lord's manticore destroyed the Prince's chariot however. The Knights inflicted enough wounds to destroy several more chariots, and the rest were wiped out via combat resolution and the Tomb King's unstable rule. The Prince had moved to the back rank for the challenge, leaving the knights to reform forward to remain in combat with him.

The next turn, his Skeleton giant thing charged the Chaos Knights in the back.

So the situation looks like this:

_____KK__
LLLLPKKGG
LLLL_KKGG
_____KK__

L= Lord on Manticore
P= Tomb Prince
K= Chaos Knights
G= Giant

My friend and I were wondering this - do the giant and knights fight first, or do all 4 units fight in the same combat? Alternately, do the Knights not advance when the Chariot unit is wiped out (they won on the charge, so they might well be able to overrun into this position as well). My belief is you fight the entire combat at once, resolving in initiative order - however, I'd like to hear what the consensus is on this.

I would say initiative order since there is nothing separating the combat so ya initiative order.

The reason you are getting confused is because you are treating this as two separate combats when in facts it is only one combat.

So what would happen if the manticore guy kills the prince and the giant kills the knights on the charge. Does the giant get an overrun or just reform same for manticore does it just sit there or can it reform

If its al on the charge, then you can overrun or reform as long as there is no combat any longer

Here's a question about this same situation. Suppose that between them, both charging units wipe out the defending unit completely. The way I read the rules, they overrun into one another and stop?

Can the manticore reform as well in that situation. What order would it be in.

Yes. In any general ordering question, the player whose turn it is decides. not near rulebook atm to find the page
