Anywho, congrats on the win! Interesting Nid's list, seems to work pretty well. Your orc pals list was a bit quirky tho

That ork player must have had some craptacular dice roles for him to only do 2 wounds with that many boyz.

With all due respect to his win I don't see how a great player winning at a bizarre point level against 13 players (4 of whom you've played before) in a BP tourney proves Nids are 'good'. You didn't even play against more than one 5th edition codex Take a top 4 in Nova, Wargamescon, or Adepticon with them than we'll talk. But what ever probably was just trolling with the remark anyway.

Great work Yermon; really impressive 'nid list too; 5 really tough close combat units, as well as the Hive Guard and 4 Tervigons! Jesus.
Well played man, congrats on the well deserved win and doing the 'nids some justice. Great job.

I didn't mean for last comment to be taken seriously lol. I will take the compliment on being a great player though . I'm hoping to take nids to some other GT's and do well with them. It's tough for these bug like creatures.

And thanks Dave, really appreciate it!

Well played, Yermon!

I love my Bugs, too. You're lucky you didn't run into Grey Knights. I was doing really well with my triple Trygon list until Grey Knights came out. Sanctuary, might, hammerhand and force weapons was the death of that army in a hot, hot hurry.

I'm switching up to an all little bug list, which I think will do just fine.

@TheDuke07
Bugs aren't bad, just not great. You can win on the regular with them, it is just much harder. Janthkin does very well with his, as do a lot of players. I have won a few RTTs with mine as well. It is doable, but certainly no Grey Knights.

Augustus- If beating Jaws and 20+ missiles wasn't good enough for you, wait for me to get my blobs park reports up, then you'll have your fill of seeing tyranids go toe to toe with some pretty god awful match ups.

Mcuh respect Nick, well done and well played.
Now if you only played your daemons...then I would actually be impressed
But in all seriousness, I have read the reports thus far and it seems you have played some great games against very solid lists and players, keep up the good work. I will see you next summer.

Well played sir!

Was going to ask what 2000 would look like but just read your Blobs park Batreps...the list is pretty similar to something that I had been thinking.

Do the triple Trygons help out with Mech at all? I would think the 6 S5 shots could be pretty useful on the backs and sides of a lot of armor.

The Batrep was interesting. Thanks for sharing. I don't think it makes much of a point that Tyranids are good though, like some are implying.

Tie vs Eldar
Beat Orks in a central Obj melee game
Your friend's wolves

Seems like 3 pretty average games, the Eldar are such a poor dated codex I think a Tie vs them is about right for bugs. Beating Orks in a melee game, could that have been a better set up for Tyranids to win? Why would a wolves player leave his long fangs in charge range of outflank... pretty lucky they didn't show up on the wrong side etc., especially in a quads set up, or show up to late.

Fair reports, but based on that list, or any other tyranid really, I think massed poison/dark lance fire from Dark Eldar, or storms of fire from grey knights would fairly easily sweep it off the table. Good luck in the future! Kudos to you for playing an uphill battle codex.

To the casual reader: I caution concluding Tyranids are "good" based on this.

Croggy- I can take criticism, believe me I have thick skin. Please do elaborate on what you mean with lack of flavor? These are meant to be relatively quick recaps of my games, not in depth reports with pictures and move by move actions, every strategy I used, and in depth fluff reports.

Also, not to seem conceited, but when you play a significantly worse codex (according to the majority of gamers), and rolls average out for the most part, what other variables are there to deciding the outcome of the game besides player skill?

No offense, or rather defense intended, I'd like to continue this discussion more in depth though.

Augustus- I agree with your post for what it's worth. And that is to say I agree that based on 3 games, only 1 of which was seriously bad for me, I can't say tyranids are a good codex. I think I can make the statement that they can compete being that I've now won this tournament (although fairly meaningless) and blob's park (much more meaningful) with them.

The more I play in these event and the more I play good armies the more support my claim gets. Eventually I would like to be able to say tyranids are a good codex, but given the small sample size of my winnings I think they're stuck in the realm of "able to compete" for now.

Congrats at doing well. Taking a look at your army list, you sir are a heartless person. I would hate to take on such a list with my templars

Nicely done. I think the list you brought was 100% ideal for the second mission, and ideal in 2 of 3 objectives in the third mission. Mission 1 would be the problem and it sounds like that's what gave you the most trouble. Well played, and congratz on the win!
