At ard boyz i had to play a IG player with something like 10 Chimeras with guys inside and I noticed a few odd things.

-Every turn i felt that he was reshooting at least one or two units. He would skip around with his tanks and then fire all the tank then go back and fire guys inside sometimes saying oh i didn't fire this tank somewhere in the middle. When i said something like didn't that already shoot he would say no that was the guys or that was the tank
-Plasma guys never died. Every phase he would lose one to two plasma gunners due to gets hot ,but every tank was shooting three plasma guns. There was no marking to say that one died or not so i was not sure where the deaths were.

How am i supposed handle that much jumping around with units and when i believe he is cheating? I would like to think he wasn't doing it just so he can get in some free shots but since it was ard boys you never know.

If you're having trouble keeping it straight, you could ask him to mark each unit as it shoots.

So far as casualties in vehicles go, the easiest option there is to ask him to place the units somewhere visible, so that casualties can actually be removed from the unit.

I would recommend emphasising your inability to keep track of everything in your head over trying to catch out cheaters when you broach it with an opponent, though.

Know your codex, and then learn all the others you can.

Alos keep notes (mental or otherwise), and gently (or not so gently) remind him that his Plasmagunners were fusion-fried earlier in the game for that unit if they were..

It's hard to do when someone jumps around like that, but pay close attention to both what he's doing and which units have already acted.

A lot of tournament players like doing this, as it can give them an edge , and can be hard to spot them slipping a few extra shots or dice into the mix.

It seemed like his shooting would end when he felt I was catching on to him.I did say things to him but every response was no that was this once or something to that effect.I would like to think i am pretty familiar with all the codexes it was just the guy didnt feel right while playing.

If your opponent starts doing this;

Take your notepad and pen (everyone has one of these in their gaming bag, right?
mark when a unit shoots.
When asked tell him you're making notes for a battle report.
Works every time.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

If it was a friendly and you don't want the confrontation (I know I'd get offended tbh if someone started keeping track of my units for me) and you are pretty damn sure that yes he was cheating, not 50/50 might be, then maybe just try to avoid playing him.

A lot of cheats soon find themselves with noone to play against.

Just my 2c.

Just pay attention, call cheating when you see it, and avoid playing with idiots.

I realise the latter is more difficult if you're playing in tournaments, however.

I agree with learning all you can about your enemies and paying close attention. Not only can it help prevent cheating but can allow you to see holes in their defense you may not have seen before.

Write down everything he does. You can also have a friend keeping track of what he does.

If you want to catch him and get him kicked out of the tourney for being a git, do the notebook thing marv335 mentioned. If you don't want a confrontation, just start marking his stuff with your dice/markers/beads/skulls and announce clearly what each dice stands for.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Yeah...reaching across the table and placing a marker on each model as it shoots wouldn't provoke a confrontation.

Just ask the guy "Could you mark stuff as it fires and units take casualties? I'm having a hard time keeping them straight." Anyone who objects to this is being unreasonable and you should call over the TO.

By marking his stuff, I believe he meant put a marker NEXT to the units that have fired, not on top of.

Therefore you do not provoke a confrontation.

Its sad when you have to do this, people should mark their own shooting, or keep it straight somehow.

Sometimes you run into people like this in tournaments, though I have not run into anyone like this.

I have a problem with remembering what I shoot and everyone I play with ussually notices this and points it out and I am truely thankful for it so try pointing it out to those guys they may just have had trouble remembering what they shot.

That wasn't quite the point. The point was, if you just start placing markers on your opponent's units, he's going to get cranky about it. If you ask him to do it, on the basis that you're having trouble keeping track, you're far less likely to provoke a confrontation.

I fail to see how you could get annoyed at that though....
It's just a dice/marker informing him that you've shot that unit, it's not something to get pantsy about.
If your opponent feels like you may be cheating what's wrong with him putting a system into to practise to assure him that your not cheating?

I see nothing wrong with the notepad or marker idea.

You honestly don't see how insinuating that your opponent is cheating might make him cranky? Particularly if he's not, and you're just getting confused?

Asking him to mark his units is the less confrontational approach. Just starting to do it yourself without discussing it with him gives the impression that you don't trust him... which never goes down well.

if a person has a very confusing list or lots of shooty stuff I break out my counters and use clear counters to show a unit has shot and black to show a vehicle has shot. I ask my oppenent to do the same saying I have trouble keeping up with that stuff and it'll help me decide how to handle things on my turn knowing what has and hasn't shot and remembering wha tit did to help me... have never had a person say no or think much of it... heck some people have said thats a good idea to not forget things and I've seen mroe counters at my FLGS since i started going there

When your man comes home with another lady's lipstick on his collar.

Just keep track of what your opponent does and has. If anything seems a bit suspect, too powerful, or what have you, politely ask to see his codex regarding the rule. There's a good chance they may just misunderstand a given ability.

This is an easy solution. Even if you just draw pictures on your notepad it will work. The thought of being monitored is generally enough to scare cheaters from doing so.

Also make sure they have their codex on hand. Little exaggerations can creep in in the absence of rules.

Yes, this.

Is it a slightly passive-aggressive way of dealing with the problem? Sure. But it also makes the game go smoothly and you're getting the desired result.
