Dont they use similar chassis anyway? Dont look that different to me, the main part anyway.

As far as I'm aware the russ turret fits the chimera ring perfectly (thanks in no part to GW having a rare moment of clarity and good design principles).

The best conversions I've seen however have used the front turret ring as a hatch, and put the russ turrent 'on top' towards the rear, covering the roof of the troop compartment.

How about using one of these (rather nice) models as a count as:

Or at least they will give you some ideas of how it could look.

Ok, these sound like good ideas, Thanks

Chimera chassis actually looks a lot better as a Russ than the Russ chassis. It ends up looking lower and meaner in my view

I shortened the crew compartment a bit and used a Predator turret (back in the days when you could pick them up separately of course).

I have had many ideas about using the Leman russ turret on a chimera.

I was originaly going to do this to make a T-34 styled tank for a WW2 Russian themed army, after just putting a Leman Russ turret on top of a Chimera chassis it looked awesome...but i didn't have the time or resources, so the whole army idea flopped :(

You're right, the Chimera DOES look better as a Leman Russ then the Leman Russ.

Is that a Predator turret on the unpainted one? That would be either an amazing coincidence or amazing design foresight if the Predator turret is compatible with the Russ/Chimera chassis rings.

Did one back in the 2nd ed days.
It was based off an epic model.

The Chimedon. Battlecannon toting chimera hull tank.

Back when the (now current) plastic Predator was released, I converted its turret over to hold a battlecannon for the tank and used a spare Rhino turret ring hatch to 'update' it.

It went missing (probably swiped by some lightfingered louie at my former local GW) years ago.

I'm not a fan of those Predator side sponsons - although they do look better than most of the ones I've seen.

But the Predator turret looks pretty good on the Chimera, if perhaps a little high-tech (the Russ turret would also look great), so long as you don't need sponsons.

@Joshh - Its a predator turret in both cases. I think it can slip over the Chimera turret ring, but that would make the turret weirdly off-set. I ended up trimming away the ring on the chassis (with a reasonable amount of swearing) to allow the turret to sit centrally.

@Clang - My guard force is a bit more hi-tech than standard Cadians, hence the use of the more advanced looking Marine bits and bobs. You could probably easily fit standard Russ sponsons in about the same area.

I bought a basilisk and scratch-built a LR from it. Wasn't near as good as Flinty's (it was actually horrible) and I couldn't work out all the details I wanted, for example the sponsons.

And I allso wanted a lot more armour than the ordinary chimera has (it's still a MBT, even though it's based on the same chassie as a IFV). It was there I had my big problem.
