I was looking at build an all terminator army.Dark angels seem to be what everyone defaults to but looking at other armies like space wolves and knights (not sure if im missing any others) they seem to be on par if not better than Dark angels. Why are Dark Angels the only terminator army showing up consistently in the competitive meta?

Dark Angels, Grey Knights, and Space Wolves can all field legal, all-Terminator armies.

yes its legal, and the models only cost about 40 pts each so you can easily field 40+ of them in most games.

I've done the Logan Wolf Guard army list before. It just really depends, and I think they are a waste of points when you can field 6 grey hunters with a razor back and a melta gun.

Dark Angels aren't necessarily the BEST TDA army. I think the Wolfwing holds that particular title. But it is the one with the longest history and the most longevity. A Dark Angels codex IS due in the none too distant future, and an all TDA army will ALWAYS be a part of that book. Although there is no reason they would, an update to the SW book could impose some sort of restriction to preclude the continued wolfwing. That's my take on it. In the competitive meta, it's a matter of old and wiley DA players using a substandard book to devastating effect.

Well that is mainly because of Logan's bonuses he gives units he joins. I still don't think it is the best tactic for Space Wolves.

Right now Draigowing is the best all terminator army you can build. It's also pretty cheap.
My friend's 2500 point Draigowing runs $500 US Retail.

GK Librarian (uses the BC Stern model)
Vindicare Assassin
15 Paladins
2 Stormravens
3 Dreadnaughts

Storm shields give a 3+ invulnerable save, and GK don't really get them. Also, please put spaces after punctuation, they don't replace spaces.

It depends on what's firing at/attacking them.
Normally, I divided mine into two squads. 10 man squad /w Draigo and Librarian and a 5 man squad by themselves. The 10 man squad will decimate pretty much anything in game in CC that you could hope to feasibly throw at it in a realistic setting. For example they survived a 30 Black Templar Marines + 5 TH/ SS + 5 Assault Terminators + a Terminator Chaplain popping his +1 attack holy orb on the charge. If you don't have anti psyker abilities you're going to be facing 40+ S6 I10 attacks when you charge them. They hurt. A lot.
As far as shooting goes.
Anything weaker than s8 or AP3 is useless against them. Terminator Armor, FNP (if you take an Apocethary), and unique models require you to put an excess of 13 wounds on the Deathstar squad to kill one of them.
Plasma Weapons work against them, but not as well as they do against regular terminators. Paladins can soak up a lot of plasma damage.
S8 AP3 weapons are potentially dangerous because they can insta kill Paladins.
S8+ AP2 (or lower) weapons are your enemy. Large blasts (think the IG Medusa) can decimate your army quickly. However, if your opponent is unable to do a large amount of these wounds per firing unit he's probably just going to throw a bunch of wounds on Draigo and Draigo will laugh them off with his Storm Shield and EW.
Ultimately, it's not like having an entire army of Terminators. It's more like having an entire army of Dreadnoughts. Even your weakest model laughs at any type of anti infantry weapons. It takes anti tank weaponry to put this army down and this army has the weaponry to put vehicles down.
You have 6 Psycannons on Paladins. s7 Assault Cannons with an effective range of 30".
You have 6 twin linked Autocannons with Psybolt ammuntion of Dreadnoughts. s8 Autocannons with an effective range of 54".
You have a Vindicare Assassin who can shoot his magical " lol I auto penetrate everything" bullet every turn.
You have a Librarian who can give your unit +1s and + d6 armor pen in addition to shooting psyker powers that can melt stuff.
You have 2 Stormravens with Assault Cannons that can be given Psybolt Ammunition. (If you choose to do that their HBs will be upgraded to s6)
It's not alpha strike power by any means, but it can certainly cripple a shooty army quickly.

Im building a deathwing army but modeled as death watch. Im so excited to finally field it! I would run death watch because of the options that they can put on their terminators, yes they are expensive but how do you beat a terminator with a th/sh and a typhoon missile launcher?

so would 15 paladins be better than 40 terminators? In terms of wounds and damage output i think the paladins might be better to small arms since they have to take 16 wounds to lose any damage output but the terminators are better vs s8 low AP but the first wound you are losing damage output.

I mean, if you want to compare just what you can run with pure Terminators.
You could put 45 Terminators on the table at 2500 points as Deathwing. 9 Cyclone Missile Launchers. 36 TH/SS.
vs
Draigowing. 30 Paladins at 2500 points. 12 Psycannons. 12 Force Halberds. 6 Daemonhammers. All with 2 wounds.
Paladins don't cost much more than other Terminators and the GK codex has much better force multipliers.

Depends on what you are facing. If you're up against a Tyranid army for instance, the Paladins are going to eat through just about everything whereas the Terminators are going to have a tougher time. Against an decent IG army, the Paladins are going to face a significant amount of ranged S8+ AP2 fire and likely have a much more difficult time than the 40 Terminators will.
