We don't know too much about Krieg rebellion apart from 500-year extermination campaign and newly-invented Siegfried and Ragnarok tanks.
So, was Krieg Rebellion the work of Chaos powers?

Probably not.
A lot of rebellions aren't started by Chaos but eventually turn to Chaos to survive.

Why is that? I would done the same if my world go rough from Terra. The man is a hero to the Imperium for returning Krieg to it.

And would be the Imperial reign after 500 years of Exterminatus better for Krieg?

If Chaos was involved I imagine there wouldn't be a Krieg left, 500 years of being under Chaotic influence would make the world too corrupt for the Imperium to tolerate and at the very least they'd wipe out all life and re-settle it as was the case with Armageddon.

Most rebellions in the Imperium aren't connected to Chaos anyhow.

Humans don't need Chaos to make completely insane choices with catastrophic consequences.

After all, in the 40k universe, it's partly because of humanity that the Chaos gods have any power at all!

Besides, who uses 500 years of bombs to cleanse a planet of something surely died by the 3rd of 4th bomb?

Maybe Imperium armories were in overstock in those times ...

And I don't think Jurten had been alive for all that time - ordinary humans don't live 500 years even with juvenates and augmetics.
If there weren't the rebellion, the Imperials wouldn't have Siegfried and Ragnarok. And the Death Korps

i thought that he lunched the nukes in the day of the emperor or something like that and after that he commanded his troops to go to reclaim the land...

and in case of Krieg. the reasons of some uprisings are the power struggle of some bad... bad.... noblemen or local tyrants.
The backstory of Krieg civil war cited that Col. Jurten is a loyalist. and the opinions on the Autarch's claim were not really decisive. several Kriegsche are loyalist and see no points of independency. except that it will give the Autarch an unlimited power and that will make Imperial 'constitutions' relatively benevolent.

The Autach might have a majority support from the General Staff and that could mean that much of Kriegsche's armed forces bow to Autarch instead of the Emperor. The traitors may have number superiority. but the Autarch failed to sway Col. Jurten to his cause...
I think by then. the whole planet was heavily fortified ones. the number superiority alone can't win the war. i'm not sure if the Loyalists held up in better fortified area so the traitors can't take the pocket of loyalists down.

The Day that nuking began was the day of Ascension 'to the golden throne'. Jurten suddenly linked himself to the battle of Terra and linked the Autarch to Horus (even though Autarch is not a Chaos worshipper)

Keep in mind that it wasn't 500 years of constant nucear explosions. It was an initial nuclear holocaust to even up the odds followed by 500 years of civil war with occaisional use of nuclear weapons as necessary on the battlefield.

Jurten believed that nukings will subdue those traitors.

it seems that nukings worked. (i believed there were much fewer loyalist than Autarch goons). it saved much of the loyalists while reduced Autarch's strengh. otherwise the war would end sooner. and the Autarch will become someone as dangerous as Horus.

there were some other human tyrants seek to carve up an empire for their own. while still keep their hands away from Chaos (those tyrants might have aware that align themself with chaos can be ugly and those tyrants can risk losing control of their very own empire). Drookian Fein Guard have fought this kind of warlords before. and won!
