When i paint i usually sit down with something on tv or some kind of music, just to break up the silence. It got me thinking, Does anyone else paint or game with certain music/tv shows playing?
Do you have a theme song or something?
Inspiring music to paint to or smash faces with when playing?
Ill go first with what i have to break up my silence:
Tv ~ stargate(sg-1), supernatural or true blood...
Music ~ at the moment its the breathe carolina cd. I try to finish 1 squad/unit per full cd play. Sometimes i listen to the local radio station(but man its the same songs over and over )
Wont you let me be your token cat lady?? ~ 3.5k points
Also slightly better than Nyannyannyannyannyannyannyan, which it stole from the creator. Though AaAaAaAAaAaAAa is also alright in terms of songs with long meaningless names.
I don't really have a main song I just let shuffle choose a selection to paint to.
When I have my buddies over to play, I have a playlist of the Dawn of War 1 and 2 soundtracks (plus all DoW2 expansions) the Space Marine soundtrack, the Gears of War 3 soundtrack, the Starcraft II soundtrack, and some Command and Conquer music too.

For TV: Star Wars/Scrubs/Family Guy/Simpsons (all stuff I know fairly inside-out so I don't have to look at the screen and can pay attention to my painting)
And army-specific music:
-Anything by ImperatorDominatus (on YouTube)
-General stuff I feel fits armies.
I used to listen to music from my computer while I painted. But I found that it just let my mind wander and think of all sorts of things I could be doing at the time.
So now I listen to Stargate SG-1 on my computer, sometimes Futurama.
Minnesota, land of 10,000 Lakes and 10,000,000,000 Mosquitos
I love Two Steps from Hell. Studying for a Health test has never been so epic.
Personally, I tend to listen to the F Plus Podcast while I paint/assemble models. (Link) Though I sometimes need to stop because I'm laughing so hard I can't keep my hand steady.
My Armies:
Kal'reia Sept Tau - Farsight Sympathizers Da Great Looted Waaagh! The Court of the Wolf Lords
I usually listen to movies while I paint, The Holy Trilagy Star Wars 4-6, none of that 1-3 special editions crap, Darth Vader was a Bad A$%, NOT a whiny over hormoned little punck, Han Solo shot first people
Sorry about that comes out every time any way back on topic
old war movies, Patton, Kelly's Heroes ect. Somes times a good comedy Dodgeball, Caddie Shack, Fletch. If its music I am in the mood for then 70's or 80's rock. Every once in a while I will put on the 13 hour unabridged version of JRR Tolkien's Simirilion. Man I am old I have never even heared of some of the musice you guys are talking about. How about some Zepplin, Ozzy, AC/DC, Styx maybe even the Scorpions man I am old.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Great fires of London I almost forgot the ultimate war gaming film of all time.
CONAN the BARBARIAN
the original. Just thinking of the music makes me want to paint or play a game.
What more could a war gamer need. Cool music, swords fights, great lines, and naked
women. number one on my painting movie list.

You're not alone, 70's and 80's rock is my preferred modelling music as well! Newer music just lacks the energy you need to get in the mood!
When I started on my Noise Marines, I listened to this:
The results were... interesting.
Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it.
I usually have a TV series playing in the background. Lately I've been going through my Dr. Katz boxset. The animation isn't much to look at, and with an inexhaustible number of episodes (which are basically just stand-up routines couched in banter) to play through, it performs its task admirably.
Unfortunately with my eyes on the model, my collection of silent films didn't work out nearly as well. Sorry Buster Keaton.
