Hi all,

I'm starting a new Imperial Guard army and as a theme I'm planning on doing plenty of conversions and stuff. So, are there any, or could there be any Imperial Guard Regiments with close ties to the Adeptus Mechanicus?

I know the vostroyans have a lot of bionics and stuff like that but are there any others?

I play:
Imperial Fists - 9000 pts
Tyranids - 1500 pts

GENERATION 9: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Vostroyan Firstborn.
Vostroyan government has close ties to Mechanicus, so many of the Vostroyans use bionics and technologically advanced equipment.

If there is one in the books, it is reasonable to assume there could be more. I only know of the one (Vostroyans) but don't let that stop you from making up your own. I think IG are the opposite of Marines, in that players probably should make up their own IG armies.

I suppose you could even make that IG army a full-blown regiment of Mechanicus Tech-Guard if you feel adventurous. Slap on the appropriate colours, try adding a few gadgets and implants with bitz and greenstuff and there you go?

Mars itself is manned by Skitarii Regiments, could always go with that. Basically IG with bio-enhancements and red hoods seem to be common.

My Armies:
5,500pts
2,700pts
2,000pts

That's what I'm thinking.
Are there colours the same as the rest of the adeptus mechanicus or are there any differences?

The few times the skitarii are mentioned in the fluff, they are almost always depicted as being dressed in red carapace-style armor or bodyplating, depending on their level of augmentation.

Being that they're AdMech troops and not IG, they most likely follow the standard red/black/white color patterns of the AdMech in armor and uniform.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

I've decided to go with Skitarii. I've found a couple of good recommendations on how to do their cloaks and stuff but i'm not really sure how to show bionics.

If anyone has any links to skitarii projects in progress, completed or tutorials it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The Gryphonne IV regiment had strong ties to the Mechanicus and were heavily modified to fight in adverse conditions. This was due to Gryphonne IV being a Forge World. They were wiped out when the Tyrannids took the planet.

Know thy self. Everything follows this.

A vet guard army with carapace could make a somewhat accurate representation of Skitarii.

As for guard regiments close to the Mechanicus? Why not make up your own? It's hardly unrealistic.

Could still have surviving Gryphonne regiments, fighting to earn a world of their own after their previous one was lost.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

The Skitarii for each Titan Legion is dressed in the Legio's color. Titanicus has two of the colors, I'll dig them up if you need.

Probably at some stage. However, that stage is a very long way away. However, I am already planning some custom super-heavys and that sort of stuff. I will post a link when I eventually start a P and M blog for this army.

If you wouldn't mind that'd be great. No rush though as I'm not gonna be needing them for a while. Thanks anyway though.
