Sound effects. The most important and deceive issue in 40k, or you know maybe it's just a silly little poll we can have fun with. So lets have at it. Do you make sound effects for your miniatures? And make sure you share you favorite sound effects.

Sounds: mostly dying noises, talking, and what-not.

Make "noises" as to suggest that its time for the shooting phase only once per game whenever I'm caffeinated.

Thing is, I haven't touched caffeine before a game in a while.

I go pew pew on my lazors. Dakka Dakka on my shooty-bitz.

And WAAAAAAAAAGH when I WAAAAAAAAAAAAGH.

Of course you say "pew, pew" when you shoot, otherwise your attack never hits, duh

I mostly pew pew but I sometimes dakka dakka. Except when I'm using earthshaker rounds. Then I make a big explosion sound that there is no spelling for.

Splinter weapons go CHUGCHUGCHUGCHUGCHUGCHUG and Lances go 'piff' like a firecracker. No exceptions.

I would make a exception.

To me, a splinter weapon would go "biyoweooweooweooweooweooweoo", or something similar. Like from DoW2.
A lance would be more like a "sssshhhiewoo".
But that is just my interpretation.

I took the poll a bit too literally. I don't make pew pew noises.

However, I do make occasional death noises, like little, "Oh no!" "Agggh!" noises in that higher pitched tone I use when I'm trying to make cute sounds.

And sometimes I say FREEEM! when firing lascannons.

And sometimes I make, "Ka-BOOM!" noises and a weird noise which I probably only THINK sounds like an explosion and I don't know the textual equivalent when large explosions occur, such as ordnance, orbital bombardments, or vehicle asplosions. Particularly when large numbers of enemy models are caught in the blast.


I don't view it as childish, well, at least no more childish than playing with dice and little plastic army men and having hissy fits over whether your plastic mans are killed by your opponents plastic mans and vice versa.

I thought you were all lame for Pew Pewing.

Then I remembered that I make Vroom noises when I move my tanks and searching noises when they "break."

I pewpew.

In fact, with one friend, I pewpew with one of his meltagun chaos marines. This ensures that it will never hit throughout the day.

I don't make many sound effects, but I do tend to bark commands at my models.

"Target Landraider, Hammerhead, Railgun, Solid Shot. Fire!"

Every now and then I'll make noises for my stuff.

I make flamer noises. A cross between a throaty growl and just puffing out air. I hear melta noises in my head (which sound like a microwave and a hair dryer at the same time).
