Hi guys and gals I'm starting my first army. I'm stuck between choosing orks or eldar. I like the backstory and look of both armies but want to know the pros and cons. I would like the pros and cons from both armies, to painting, to playing, to collecting, and what I should start out with in my army. Thanks in advance you guys

I would go with what you think is best. I prefer the Orks, but then again, I have 2,500 points of the damned things.

Ork Pros-Very fun army to collect, have 180 of thos little buggers in a 1500 point game is just friggen awesome. Infantry are cheap in points. Cool Heavy Supports, and fun heroes.
Ork Cons-Buying 10 Ork Boyz is like buying 10 Space Marines, same price but orks are worth 2x less points then your average Space Marine. You've got ALOT of models to Paint, if you run the standard green tide army, painting is going to be a while. But thats the price for running a SM army over with a mass of orks ;D
For Eldar, Im not quite sure, I've only got 500 points worth of them and I dont use them very much :(

Although I love orks, I have to say eldar.
Painting all of those F**KERS made me insane, I almost just wanted to give up...Than I started painting the SM that came with AoBR, and I was fine again.
But If you're going to be gaming more than painting, go orks, their more forgiving for new players, being a new Eldar player, you're probably going to get ROFL-stomped the first few games you play.

Though I like Orks too, I prefer Eldar because they have more aesthetic look and less minis to paint.
But if you want, you may collect both these armies and will have a classic fantasy plot set in far space - orcs vs. elves.

Welcome to dakka. Orks are just awesome with their background and funny rules, but I admit that painting all those freaking models can get old really fast. Although the modeling opportunities and converting can make up for that.
