Pulsating Possessed Chaos Marine

So, how many people here have seen/played it? I've been playing it for about a year now and really love the game, but haven't seen much about it on online forums.
Check out their Wiki here: http://atoracle.wikidot.com/
and the cipher studios page: http://cipher-studios.com/
It's a solid system-- a ton of fun with some of the most beautiful minis I've ever seen. I was just curious how many have heard of it

Heard of it, and have considered getting a few of the figures to use in other games since I like the look of those sculpts, but haven't really considered playing it. Did download the free rulebook though. However, no one plays locally.

I have yet to buy the rulebook. I have 3 models so far. I like the detail but am scared to paint them. Right now they're just primed. I don't know anything about the rules yet other than points costs of stuff.

Love the models, have several, enough to make a few teams. Bought them mostly for the looks. Even have the rulebook. Solid ruleset. Only problem is that no one plays it and no one wants to play it.

That's the same problem I have. In fact the only other person who I know would probably play it is 4 hours away. I have the same problem with Infinity.

I think in this kind of situation the impetus is on you to make some demo games!
Fortunately with this kind of game (like Infinity) the forces are small enough that it's fairly easy to get two armies on a tabletop and get some people to watch the demo.

The game is very affordable. You can actually pick up a 300pt army (the standard points limit) for under 70$
At the current time I have Samael, Church, Wissenschaft, and Azure Alliance (and a lot of the wanderers). My Samael is mostly painted and I'm working on Church. Slow going though because I really like to put time into painting the models-- they're so pretty!
I just got one of my friends to play. I agreed to try out Infinity if he would try out Anima Tactics. He was hooked in the first demo game!
I really try to sell the game to people and we do have a small group here in Boulder, CO. We even have a free agent, who should be running demos. Only problem is he's kind of... off putting.

So I have a couple questions.
When you're building your team? crew? squad? do you base it off a faction or just a leader? Warstore arranges their models by Light/Dark/Nuetral but on the actual site they are arranged by what seems to be factions.
Second, what size base does the Blacksun type-012 come on?

There are two ways of building a group.
You can band together characters of the same organisation: Light/neutral/dark irrespective of their faction allegiances.
However you may only mix characters of different organisation together if they belong to the same faction eg Samael includes Dinah (Light iirc) and Ophael (Dark)
The exceptions are The Wanderers who are Mercanaries and may be included in any faction, but again if you run a group based on organisation must be of the same type eg Light
No idea about the Type 012 base size, sorry.

The above might have sound something confusing. Let's see
Anima Tactics terminology:
-Faction: It's what you would call an alignment. makes reference to the behaviour and mindset of the character. Dark, Neutral or Light.
-Organizations: They are societies, what in other games are called Factions. Current organizations are: Empire, Azur Alliance, Church, Samael, Wissenschaft and Black Sun. There are wanderers but at moment they're NOT considered an Organization and pretty much are what in other games are the mercs.
You can build a list in two ways:
-Faction list: Choose Dark or Light. You're allowed to use any character in the range of your chosen faction as well as any number of Neutral characters.
-Organization list: Choose one of the named organizations. You can only use characters that belong to the chosen organization but you're allowed to mix Dark with Light characters. Also you are allowed to add one Wanderer character or team of wanderer characters ( it's what it is called a "wanderer slot" ). Additionally, an Organization list is allowed to choose a number of Organization advantages. The number of advantages you are allowed to select depends on the number of points per list the players agreed to play.
Additionally to that there're some characters that because of their high powers they are called leaders. You can include one character with the leader trait for each 250 points. Games under 250 points can't use leaders.
You might be wondering what's a team of characters. In the game there're some characters that because of fluff they cooperate together very frequently and are used to fight together. There're some cards, that you can buy as equipment that allow you to form a team if you have in your list all the listed characters in the card. When you make a team their members gain the new abilities mentioned in the card. A team of wanderers counts as a single wanderer slot, regardless of the number of characters composing it.
Regarding the Type 012 it was supposed to be on a 40 mm base, and that's what price in $ and the picture suggest. However there have been some rumours saying it's on a 50 mm base. We'll have to wait until someone gets his hands on one of those in order to know it.

Both replies helped clear it up. I've heard people talk about factions and organizations and wasn't sure the difference.
Thanks a bunch.

Glad I helped.
However I did a little typo. Wanderers are NOT an Organization (neither count as a faction). I have corrected it in the previous post.

I've just recently jumped into the game and I have to say I love it. The player base is definately VERY small and the line is in flux right now with the rights being switched.
I have my Infinity for Sci-Fi Anime
I have my Anima tactics for Fantasy Anime

The first pic is a nasty unit, can't dodge but has a pile of Life Points and can be customized to your needs. The 2nd model actually hasn't been released yet :(

The current rulebook doesn't cover some of the characters and doesn't have the Black Sun faction.
Presumably a new book is in the offing?

Now that's annoying!
Not knowing much (anything) about AT, where does someone find the rules for them then?
Are they on cards? Included with the miniatures?

Online, on the cards, and the black sun boxes contain all the special black sun rules.
And yes, they will be included in future books. It's just that Black Sun, along with some other characters, came out after the book was made.

There is quite a bit of info with stats and card pics here Apharius: http://atoracle.wikidot.com/main Some of the newer characters may not have all the info uploaded yet. Rules can be downloaded as a PDF from the website: http://cipher-studios.com/uploads/2009/10/Anima-Tactics-EN-Rulebook.pdf A small book of rules also comes with the starter sets Models come with stat cards and with counters for action points. hth

thanks for the reply. my playgroup is small, but one of our local MtG players took the leap into tabletop and i dont wanna leave him stranded with a game no one plays.
i am looking at the wissenschaft for my force, looking at this list for a 300 level game:
Goethia
Cordelia
XII
Lorenzo
Rayne
does this work for 300 level? i sort of went with models i like the look of. i like a decent balance of range and melee. i usually go with something more resilient, but i figure i can live with doing something new.
so what do i do next? pick up the models, paint them and play? how does the equipment card thing work? i get 30 levels worth?

Shot ya a PM with a wiki link that may help ya out. With those models you are sitting at 265 Character levels and 5 Advantage Card levels for the Team Assault Group card.
To round out your points you could grab a Wissenschaft Agent or a 45pt Wanderer like Takanosuke. You'll have 25 levels to spend in advantage cards.
The advantage cards can be purchased through the cipher website or you can simple print off the images from the wiki. The book has the advantage cards as well, however it's missing a bunch.
To play simply assemble the models, decide on the number of levels you want to play (suggest starting at the lower levels), and fumble through the rules the first few times.
