I see some of these GW carrying cases with their $100 price tags and I wonder if anyone has any cheaper, homemade versions of carrying cases they use? Do you cut your own foam and use a toolbox, etc.? What's a good way to build a carrying case, without paying $100+?

go to a garage sale or flea market you can usually find a fishing tackle box, sometimes really huge for $10 or less. Thats what I have.

any flea market or outdoors store can hook you up with a double bow case for around 30 bucks that will hold hundreds of models

it is a little big though.

My suggestion is KR Multicases, their rugged cardboard cases are fairly cheap ($40 USD), and they hold models and vehicles perfectly.
