They must do as some prisoners are sent to be interrogated (c/f Black Crusade intro mission) before being killed.

Well it's canon that DA will interrogate captured prisoners in order to hunt the Fallen but I have not otherwise heard of Loyalist Astartes doing it. To me it seems that with their gene bred hatred of all things xenos and non imperial they frankly wouldn't bother. They definately would never take enemies as slaves (they have chapter serfs for that anyway). It seems to me that taking prisoners is more the business of Inquisitors.

They don't need to take prisoners, but when they operate as part of the Deathwatch they might be tasked with doing so.

The reason I say "don't need to take prisoners" is that they don't need to interrogate people, by and large.
The case of the Dark Angels and the Fallen is a rather extreme one, as they have no real way to find these individuals.
They were scattered throughout space and time--I'd be asking for any information on them too.

I'm not sure as to what extent the events of the DoW games are classed as Canon.

Waaagh! Gorskar = 2050pts
Iron Warriors VII Company = 1850pts
Fjälnir Ironfist's Great Company = 1800pts
Guflag's Mercenary Ogres = 2000pts

Yes, Space Marines take prisoners. Not for a ransom-demand-exchange-of-hostages kind of situation, but for the waterboarding-is-the-least-of-your-concerns kind.

Again: it should be noted that this is so rare that it's essentially a non-issue.

If the Inquisition asks the Astartes to take prisoners, they might decide to do it to score some brownie points--or because they think it needs to be done.
If the Astartes are serving within the Deathwatch, they'll do it no problem.

Some Chapters will take particularly feral or nasty critters to use as part of training trials, but rarely will these critters be something where we'd consider them sentient enough for it to be "taking someone prisoner".

Chicago

This is one of those areas that GW has largely left blank because it markets it's games to underage children.

One possibility might well be that SM never take prisoners and simply kill until the job is done, but GW is not going to put that in writting.

It's kind of like the rape and sexual violence that would innevitably follow invasions by evil folks like Dark Eldar, or Chaos renegades which are so prominently featured in GW literature. Could be inferred, but thankfully, that's an area that GW clearly is not going to directly address.

They take or don't take prisoners, it depends on the case.
