I really hope WA team up with one of the resin or STL miniature makers who have generally better designs and sculpts of sci-fi human infantry, like Mad Robot or Victoria Miniatures. While their prices, business practises, and willingness to experiment are all very encouraging, I think that they are still lagging a little bit behind the best of their competition in terms of actually producing a really good looking product (although they don't produce anything nearly as bad as the worst GW sculpts and that may raise them to better on average).

Had you guys not seen the reptilian overlords teaser for plastic versions of his "space nam" 3D prints that was the same yellow render of the sprue as cannon fodder 2?

This was posted on reptilian overlords facebook channels 2-3 weeks ago but as far as i know nothing has been said by WGA.

Oh, right, that was posted here. We talked about why one guy is topless when the rest have carapace.

Also seems a bit redundant with Yee Haws or wahtever those are.

Redundant maybe. If this was an outsource program thing, then it was RO coming to WGA, rather than the other way round.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

Is the big announcement them officially showing the Reptilian Overlord Jungle Nam guys? Or is there a different announcement coming?

I'd guess not as Reptillian Overlords are already showing test shots of it

unless maybe they've got another of their ranges in production too?

Ooh Rah.. The Yee Haws would also be an american set, but with more cowboy hats... I like the Ooh Rah. Not sure on the Jungle nam guys. But I am mostly interested in Fantasy or historicals that can be used in fantasy anyway.

It was a genuine mistake... but I'm glad I made it. Yee Haws sound amazing.

SpaceNam Ready to "Get Some"!
We are excited to announce a new partnership with the insanely talented team at Reptilian Overlords. We will be working with them to bring versions of their fantastic model sets from resin and STL file formats to on-the-sprue hard plastic.

Our first release are the iconic SpaceNam!

NO MATTER THE BATTLEFIELD...ALWAYS READY FOR A FIGHT.

From the depths of jungle worlds where even the plant life will eat you to the cold, ozone-scented corridors of derelict space freighters, Reptilian Overlords’ SPACENAM are the perfect models to take on ravaging alien invaders, zombie hordes, or even rogue AI.

This 20 figure hard plastic set includes an armory full of interesting weapons including standard rifles, blast pistols, edged weapons, grenades, flame throwers, grenade launchers, sniper rifles, and plasma and heat weapons.

5 sprues included to build 20 models.

Models require assembly and painting. Bases are not included. Product contents may vary from photos.

Ahh. So it was that set in the announcement. $39.95 thats more than the WA sets... but I guess price was set by RO.

I do like the set more seeing the painted box examples. May get a box or at least some sprues from Lord Marcus when they become available.

And yeah, the Hee Haw set does sound amazing... I could make some GI Joe Helicopter pilots with that set.

A bit more expensive than WGAs own offerings, both in terms of absolute price per box, and in how many minis are in the box

not a huge difference but enough for me to wait and not pre-order (unlike most WGA releases) but i'm sure i'll pick them up eventually

and important to note it sounds like more sets are in the offing (like the Dreamforge collaboration), assuming this sells well enough for both parties

Looking at the bodies painted... and the lesser number on sprue/in box, I am wondering if these guys are bigger than the other minis WA makes... I know Deathfields is more heroic. But now wonder if these are even more heroic scaled than deathfields. I only have the Cannon Fodder who really dont seem any larger than say Frostgrave. Are these more GW sized?

could be, but it could just be down the the split torso choice as that eats up a lot of sprue space

If Reptilian Overlords don’t eventually release a set of hard plastic lizard men, I will find a way to sue them for deceptive marketing practices.

Meh,
I didn't like Catachans the first time around.

I hope this sells well for them, but probably a pass from me.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

They needed some helmets with dangling straps.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Disappointed by the lack of helmets, but otherwise they look really good. A step up from WA's own sculpts in terms of quality, IMO, and certainly miles ahead of GW's Catachans (barring a small number of decent Catachan sculpts like the limited edition colonel, which are merely a little worse than these at many times the price).
Looking forward to seeing some more RO sculpts in plastic. Choppy zealots, desert reavers, and spacenaz are all fantastic designs which should have significant appeal to 40k players.

But seriously, WGA is making these as someone else’s stuff?

Nah, these guys have what look (somewhat) like actual muscles, instead of masses of tumours on their arms.

Any good sources for Goliath style heads to use these guys in Necromunda? Depending on size they can either be actual Goliaths or Goliath Juves.
