So for my first shiny infinity toy I would like to pick up the aleph starter box, mostly this will be a painting project, but as one of my regular gaming group nearly got over wpexcited in his own trousers when I mentionednd the game, I figure I will actually end up playing at some point, where is sensible to go from the starter box?

Looky a blog thing of progress and stuff

Hi.

Ok, so. Starter Box goes like this:

- 3X Dakini Tactbot
- Asura Multi rifle
- Naga Hacker
- Deva Combi Rifle

That would be 176 pts and 0,5 SWC.

In order to reach 200pts. I usually recommend adding a Garuda Tacbot with Combi Rifle.

And that will make this list:

As a new player I will warn you that those dakini are probably the most difficult to assemble in the entire Infinity line, so don't let it bum you out. Bobba has the right direction there.

Agree with that. I've only assembled one because they are so fiddly

Amen.

Putting the dakini bots from the starter box is a test of character, and if you can put one together you can put anything together.

Here are a couple of tips that will help, especially if you have only had experience of plastics.
- Use a little greenstuff, partly to help the join but also to aid with a little bit of manoeuvrability while you are trying to pose the model.
- Use a thicker super glue, if you use a thinner type it will just run straight off metal surfaces (most likely onto your fingers ) and you will struggle to get a good bond.
- Even if you have a little gap but the pose and join you have are good, don't worry about it providing it is small. Just come back after it has dried and use a filling putty or kneadite (Squadron green, Mr Surface or even the new GW liquid greenstuff).
- Finally, take some deep breaths, calm yourself and relax

I hope this helps anyone who is having problems!

I used some thick superglue (B&Q own brand gel superglue) for my Dakini, but also used epoxy resin for some bits that didn't seem to want to go together. They seem to be fine now, after some teething troubles!

I've had bigger problems so far getting the Deva's leg to look right (I don't think it fits too well, which is going to mean probably doing some filling, which is a PITA at that particular join between thigh and skirt), and having my thin Garuda wings getting slightly bent even in an eggbox foam box. :( It's just slightly too thin...

Same. Had to green stuff that join as well.

Don't get me started on PanO head antennas either...

I think the Dakini will probably haunt me for some time. Although I suspect that the Marut will probably be just as bad (picked one up this week), looking at the multitude of tiny pieces in that kit.

Not even had a game yet and I'm already buying as much Aleph stuff as I can afford. Alongside a whole load of Malifaux stuff.
