Only trouble with this, is that unless the height is calculated from the bottom of the track to the top of the storm bolter, this makes the tank out of proportion with the current models/art. Also, at this size, it doesn't look like you would fit a squad of marines inside!
It appears that it would be too small height wise to fit a Marine, and also length wise wouldn't be long enough to seat enough marines in the back.
If I ignore the length and measure the height as the track to the top hatch (which seems like a more likely measurement) you would then get this scale
This seems more likely for fitting in marines, but this would then make the Rhino 8.25m long which is a long way off the mentioned length!
Does anyone have any references from books etc that could confirm the size?
The new ones would fit the second picture better, i think
The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts
Rhinos utilize captured Xeno technology to make them bigger on the inside than on the outside.
Emperor's Eagles (undergoing Chapter reorganization)
Caledonian 95th (undergoing regimental reorganization)
Thousands Sons (undergoing Warband re--- wait, are any of my 40K armies playable?)

Thats what I was thinking, but if there is something about which can kind of confirm it that would be awesome. Sometime in the future I'm going to scratch build one and want it as to scale as possible
Would hate to make it then realise that actually it's not that size haha

Its warhammer, nothing makes sense...For all you know when the marines get inside a rhino...they shrink to the size of pygmy goats and just wander around, than the pilot hits a button and the goats go flying out, and slowly they transform back into space marines...
Don't get me started on this! I think you've just about nailed it in that second picture, but you're right, there is no way on earth 10 marines would get in a rhino the scale that the models are, by the time you accounted for the engine, gubbins (technical term), and crew you'd be lucky to fit any in! I'm with Elector, a rhino should probably be Crassus sized (sorry - do I have to write that in capitals? - Crassus fans always seem to). I doubt 10 marines would even fit in a land raider. On the plus side, they're less of a target for the enemy, also if rhinos were bigger GW would charge you EVEN MORE for them! Anyway, back to the OP original question, why do you want to know? Thinking of building a real one by any chance?

Cool! - I've never seen that before - it does however kind of answer the question - there is no way you would fit 10 7' tall space marines in power armour in one of those! In answer to KilroyKiljoy - I don't think they've 'made it' as such, it just and old (American M113?) APC which has probably had a load of plywood nailed on and been painted to look like a rhino!

The engines aren't a problem. According to older fluff, it has 4 small engines mounted in the track units, 2 front and 2 rear (hence the 4 exhausts on the sides) and so they don't get in the way of the passengers.
The only problem with fitting 10 Marines into the current rhino (and I know this because I've actually tried it) is that the roof is about a quarter of an inch too low. The passenger compartment on the current model has enough floorspace (it would be a little cramped, but it's an APC, not a bus) ... it's just not tall enough.

I'm going to assume that the "height" of 3.6 meters is only from the tracks to the top hatch, as the pintle-mounted bolter is (afaik) optional to the vehicle type and not always included.
This would make the passenger compartment about 2.5 meters high (I put a ruler on my monitor) - more than enough space for ~2.1-meter-Marines to stand in if they refrain from jumping. I think APCs are supposed to be somewhat cramped, that's just part of the military style. So much for the fluff, anyways. As has already been pointed out, the models in the TT aren't really to-scale.

It is well known that the models for 40k are NOT to scale with each other.
The Rhino itself needs to be much larger then it is. In addition, all weapons on vehicles are too large in comparason. the Rhino would get bigger, but the hatch and SB would remain the same size.
The 2nd picture is more the correct size for a Rhino, except for the Stormbolter.

Alternately the power armored troops might be too big/bulky to fit and might not need to be scaled down. The things in the drawings scale-wise that bug me more are the diameters of gun barrels and such. I mean if you take the Leman Russ barrel literally the thing is firing an 18" gun.

The Lemun Russ suffers not just from scale to infantry problems, but also ratio problems on the model itself.
Artwork shows that the LRBT is much broader and longer in relation to the gun in both its hull and the turret.

yeah. I still think its funny though that the picture is supposed to be depicting a 120mm smoothbore, even in the fluff that says that. Although a perverse part of me thinks its appropriate that the Russ hurl 18", 1 tonne shells as the enemy (imagine trying to fit 36-40 of those inside the tank!!)
More commonly its the weapons (like bolters and their derivatives - look at the pintle mount!) that get me. They're meant to be big, blocky and Imperial looking because Imperial tech is all big and blocky when it isnt gothic and full of skulls. But if the depiction of the bolter worked the way it is drawn (unlike the stats), the thing would maybe have 5-6 shots and they wouldnt be rocket propelled
