yesterday, i've let the temptation of chaos posses me, and so i made an army list of the minis i have (or rather, the loyals i have):

chaos lord
terminator armor or power armor, cant decide.
mark of nurgle
daemonic weapon

sorcerer
power armor
mark of tzeech
familiar
thinking about these three as the powers:
-doombolts
-winds of chaos
-bolt of change

chaos dreadnought
plasma cannon
extra armor
heavy flamer

10 chaos space marines
champion
mark of chaos glory
meltagun
rocket launcher

10 plague marines
champion
2 meltaguns

=1000 points (or something like that)

that is basically it. constructive critisme is welcome.

First lets fix the force org.
You don't need 10 man squads or 2 hqs.

Lets chop those up:

5 Plague Marines, 2xMelta, 1 Champ w/PF
5 Plague Marines, 2xMelta, 1 Champ w/PF
5 Khorne Berserkers, Champ with PW (or your standard CSMs)
5 Khorne Berserkers, Champ with PW (or some noise marines, whatever)
You need mobility, so lets throw in
2 Rhinos
And you need an HQ
So lets go with the old standby of
Daemon Prince of Slanesh with Lash of Submission and Wings, a steal at 155 points

That leaves around 175 Points.
I'd like to see another scoring unit in a rhino, but the big hole that needs to be filled is long range fire support, and we just happen to have enough left over for a Defiler with twin linked lascannon and a havoc launcher.

of course, not everyone loves defilers, Personally, I prefer obliterators... lots of them, even at 1000 points. You can run 20 CSMs, a single HQ, and probably squeeze in 4 oblits, you might even have enough left over for a rhino with a havoc launcher.

well, i dont really have the models to do what you said. i only got 2 tactical squads, a librarian and a force commander, all of which im planning on converting (plus a dreadnought)

Ah, well...
Might as well go straight Nurgle then, fun to convert into and hard to kill. Keep your squads small, 4x5. and get used to saying .... counts as .....

yeh. i will make the first 1000 points all-nurgle and go proxy with the rest, eventually buy the models for units im good with.

Sorcerer wants warptime

I dont like the termie lords/sorcs- its only a +1 to power amr and you already have the invulnerable bonus. wings (deepstrike + flying) or bike (t5) are better imo. Maneuverability win.

If you have rhinos- everything gets rhino.

If you only have 1- beef the rhino squad up to 7-10 pms and just charge them up the map. The smaller squads footslog it up getting the defense objectives and being covered by the defilers, dreadnaught (firefrenzy lolol) and oblits or whatever else you have.

i dont think you can really play csm without at least 1 rhino

Also with squads i like to throw pf on a champ in so it can deal with most anything.

please beware the temptation of the Dreadnaught, its a rather risky gamble and a defilier could be better
