Bounding Assault Marine

Here is a list I've been working on for some time. It has had many variations but I believe that it is nearing the realms of game winning. This list is very important to me as I have never as such won a game but I'm hoping this will do it for me. [Mod Edit - Specific Points Costs are NOT allowed. Please repost WITHOUT individual points breakdowns.] EDIT: Before a moderator edited the thread, this is where I had my original army list. The current one is down the bottom. This should equal 1000 points on the dot but my calculations have been wrong before. The Predator was really just something to take up points so it could be swapped out for whatever, I was thinking a Thunderfire Cannon or Whirlwind. Dreadnought weapons could be swapped out for other variations. My main worry is that I don't have enough Anti Tank but I'm hoping twin linked Lascannon will help. Please don't tell me my dev squad needs MLs, I don't like them much. Besides that C&C welcome. Thanks in advance.

If you play at higher points cost you'll find it easier. At 1000 pts once you got troops there is little room to make a themed list.
Serg. would be better with a pistol rather than the chainsword.
The MoF does nothing for you.
The models do not work so well together, this will nearly always be the case at 1000 pts.
If you happen, not that I am saying you should, take ML with the devs that will give you some antitank cover.
The thunderfire cannon I think would work better with this list than the pred. I would for las sponsons with autocannon top or bolters and autocannon as a troop killer.
Good luck

Hi,
Im CF player and I have 2 army lists wich I use, 1st is with Librarian, 2nd with MotF. So look on your list.
In C:SM 1000pts army will be very low on models because of points for them.
HQ
Best choise is to use no named characters in this size, Librarian, MotF, Maybe Chaplian and Cpt. are good in this order. Libbi is very good, use basic one with 2 powers, Motf with conversion beamer is good with Devs if you use them.
Troops.
Tac are good, tak ethem with free special and heavy weapon, flamer and ML or meltagun MM against tanks, plasmagun, plasma cannon if MEQ is on enemy side. Always in transport, rhino is good, but maybe razorback with some fire support will be also nice. Las/plas is always good choise. You can them combat squad your Tac squad, 1 combat unit with long range weapon give support with Razorback to your second squad, which can be your shock unit.
Scouts with snipers are god choise in this size of army, telion eats too many points I think, take only 5 scouts with ML, snipers and camo, you save 90 points.
ELITE
Dread is very good choise, if you want use Autocannon so use it on both arms, with drop pod take simple dread with CCW and MM. YOu have Assault cannon + autocannon, weapons have another range and if you drop dread close to enemy you are without CC weapon so in close combat your dread is useless. If you want use Drop Pod no upgrades in 1000pts, 20 pts are too much for it.
HEAVY
Predator is nice, better then Whirlwind in these days I think, TFC is good against horde, Predator is better choise IMO. Best load(cheap load) for Devs is ML, so 4x ML is nice for them give you good power against 10-12armor vehicles or against troops. Put MotF with CB here.
Later I edit here 2 rosters on 1000pts.

Okay, here goes: HQ I like MotF purely because he can shoot so far, and I don't know about you but I like a 42"+ S10 AP1 shot Troops The plan for the tac is to combat squad them, sit the half with the HW at the back, put the half with Sergeant and flamer up front taken to said front with use of Rhino. I like scouts with Telion as Telion is epic with his wargear and special rules I might reduce the squad to 5 if I need the points. Elites auto cannons on both arms it is I like the pod, not because it puts me infront of the enemy, but because I have a 2 in 6 (1 in 3) chance of landing exactly where I want to, which could be 24" away exactly. 4 shots from auto cannons with rerolls will hurt. Heavy Support I agree with predator, maybe swap out the HB but TL Lascannon is good for vehicles poping We finally arrive on the Devastators. After so many people saying that ML are the go I will do 4x ML. This hurts me So very bad. Could everyone mentally edit the above list. Automatically Appended Next Post: Just realised I was 10 points over ( tac squad is extra 10 points) so take storm Bolter off Dev Sergeant

MotF with gun is awesome but he is hard to get in range, if you have shooting units sitting him back protecting him whilst he moves into/out of range then it works, basically I am saying a dread list.
I like combiflamer+flamer combo. You ride up and can flame twice your target. Though combimelta+melta combo is also good, just feel there are more tanks than troops.
Telion is not quite epic, he is a few degrees below that. To use him well his squad needs to ignore objectives and just go for position, otherwise he would be their best troop choice.
autocannons have 48'' range so now you can drop the drop pod.
If you think about it autocannon is not that bad at blowing up tanks than the TL lascannon.
Dev squad: You'll love them. The missile guy in AoBR is probably the best space marine model in the set. That is there are better termies, better HQs and the dread is very specific, whereas orcs use everything but they just need to convert the nobs.

Not to be a detractor, but you need to erase the point costs for individual upgrades, and just post the total cost of the squad.
I'm also a fan of putting autocannons on my predators, with lascannon sponsons.

Hi,
so as I promise here is list with MotF as HQ:
HQ
MotF w/conversion beamer.......................120pts
TROOPS
full Tac squad..........................................260pts
Ml
Flamer
combi-melta,melta bomb
Las/plas razorback
5x Scouts................................................100pts
4x sniper
ML
camo
ELITE
"Rifle" dread(2x TLAC).............................125pts
HEAVY
Devastator squad....................................150pts
4x ML
signum
here goes MotF
Predator................................................120pts
LCs sponsons
Predator................................................120pts
LCs sponsons
995pts.
25models
Motf and Devs can choose if they will be fire on tanks or troops. Predators are tank killers, razorback can hunt tanks or MEQ troops with 2/3+ armor saves, dread is for open light vehicles or good support for your tac squad, snipers sit back and hunt down MCs or danger shock units with pinning rending shots + ML. Combat squad your tac so one can hold objective 2nd with Sgt. + flamers use against troops.
Maybe you find some usefull things in this list.
Oh and 1 thing, think again about Telion in your list? I think He is too expensive for smaller army like yours, I know he has Eye of Vengeance tactic and others. Maybe in large pts battle he is good, 50pts doesnt matter much, If you want use him best load is with 4 scouts with ML and 3x sniper.

Wow another list using MotF without using his dread ability. You have only one stationary squad at the back and which is not tank based.
MotF needs the bike to make sure he is in range and so he can move and shoot.

MotF on bike without bike squad is dead Motf in 1st enemy round if opponent is clever player.
On 1000pts army using his ability to make dread heavy support is nice but predators cost lower then rifle dreads and CC dreads without Drop pod are slow, so if he will use them as Heavy support too they will eat large part of his points. Hellwolf like MotF as HQ so I start with this and try to set 1000pts army which will be fun/semi-competitive, also I think he like his Devastators so they are in list too. There is no problem to build better list, but we are here for help him with models he has and try to give him best advices how to use them.

Okay, take the dread out of the drop pod. Many people have told me this. MotF at the back with the Devs are exactly what I was thinking. Telion is very good against orks and the only reason I have him with 10 scouts is because there is left over points. If I need points, 5 scouts go. Codex Marines 1000 points HQ Master of the Forge: 120 points Conversion Beamer: Scouts (9): 177 points Sgt. Telion 7 Snipers Missile Launcher Troops Tactical Squad (10): 185 points Flamer Heavy Bolter Sergeant has: Chainsword Combi-Flamer melta bombs 1 Rhino (for tac squad): 35 points no upgrades ++++++++++++++ Combat Squad the Tactical Squad and put Sergeant, flamer, and 3 boltguns in Rhino, then put Heavy Weapon and 4 boltguns up back with Dev squad. ++++++++++++++ Heavy Support Dreadnought: 125 points (because I have MotF) Twin Linked Autocannon Twin Linked Autocannon Devastator Squad (5): 150 points Missile Launcher x3 Heavy Bolter Sergeant has: Chainsword Boltgun Predator: 165 points Twin Linked Lascannon Side sponson Lascannons 997 points

Looks better but you still only have one tacsquad while spending almost one's worth on scouts. I think telion can be good in small point values because his model sniping rule can have a big impact, but there's no good reason to take 7 scouts. Take 5 or go for 10 and combatsquad them.
I still think you should get your devs a pod.

Here is the much revised list: Codex Marines 1000 points HQ Master of the Forge: 120 points Conversion Beamer: Troops Scouts (5): 135 points Sgt. Telion 4 Snipers Missile Launcher Tactical Squad (10): 185 points Flamer Missile Launcher Sergeant has: Chainsword Combi-Flamer Melta Bombs Razorback: 85 points Assault Cannon Storm Bolter +++++++++++++ Combat Squad the Tactical Squad and then put Sergeant, flamer, and 3 boltguns in Razorback. +++++++++++++ Heavy Support Dreadnought: 125 points Twin Linked Autocannon Twin Linked Autocannon Devastator Squad (5): 185 points Missile Launcher x2 Heavy Bolter x2 Drop Pod Sergeant has: Chainsword Boltgun Predator: 165 points Twin Linked Lascannon Side sponson Lascannons 1000 points on the dot. Too much Heavy Support, not enough Troops.
Your enemy has to kill nine models to win, pretty much. Drop the Devastators for another Tactical squad.
