As the title states really; what would you like to see in the next Eldar Codex?
My Chaos Space Marine Fandex is basically finished and I'm now working on creating an Eldar Fandex too. I've done most of the core work/units, leaving the wargear/rules remaining, but I'm just wondering what it is players would like to see included in the Eldar Codex? There are some previews of my Upcoming Eldar Codex in the Chaos Space Marine Codex thread (linked above) should anyone be interested...
Again though, what would people like to see in the next Eldar Codex?

I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Cheaper pretty much everything
Phoenix Lords as unit character upgrades instead of HQ's (even better if they would allow units of said aspect to be taken as troops choices)
Falcon becomes a transport option instead of a Heavy choice (Note: some might say this is cheesy, I don't use falcons, nor will I, but the HS section is cluttered)
Make Eldar Support Batteries a troops choice taken in the same slot as Guardian units (but otherwise deployed separately), it would give me a reason to field guardians finally.
A webway portal would be nice, but taken as a marker placed before deployment instead of a grenade (would make deployment selection more interesting and require more thought, plus it keeps the DE WWP a more advantageous option)
Swooping Hawks improved and made useful
Dark Reapers get a dual profile weapon, anti infantry as now, or anti tank missile launcher profile, also nice if Slow & Purposeful
Fire Dragon exarchs get their old buning fist/powerfist option back... please?
Bonesinger HQ that can function as a techmarine kind of deal, repair vehicle damage (also cool if it could heal wraithlords and maybe provide an FNP roll to them and wraithguard)
Make Singing Spears a useful unit... somehow?
Ditto Vypers (Eldar jetbike vehicle upgrade similar to Ravenwing Landspeeders in bike unit?)
Really, the one thing I want to see is more infantry based long range AT ability. It's virtually non-existent in the army, your options are pretty much take vehicles or monstrous creatures to fill this roll. I'm not talking about melta weapons, I'm talking about something with a 24" + range that can reliably be expected to bring down AV12 + vehicles.
Oh, and please, please, make grenades more widespread in the army.

I can see the Falcon as DT working and not being too cheesy. As long as the points are right, it isn't super far off from the Rhino/Razorback system that SM have. One is lightly armed and holds a large number of troops, one is heavily armed and holds fewer troops.

Drastically re-worked Starcannon. Cheaper Brightlances. Discount on weapons price on the cheaper (and more fragile) platforms (such as Vypers) All vehicles come with Shuriken Cannons as basic weapon. More upgrade options for under-slung weapons (mid ranged power such as Heat Lance, Shuriken Cannon, plasma grenade launcher, or some such), inclusive in this are for jetbikes. Banshees (and preferably Scorpions as well) compatible with mechanized lists (means they must be able to assault out of transports in some way) More proliferation of anti-tank weapons (see Brightlances and Heat Lances above) so that Fire Dragons in Serpents aren't mandatory. Dire Avengers naturally decent both in melee and ranged (in accordance to their fluff). Guardians versatile in upgrade choices (more special weapons, not just platforms, preferably a long-ranged basic weapon option as well) Unified Guardians (no more Storm vs Defender). More cost efficient Hawks and Spears. Jetbike Vypers Differentiation in the intended targets of Spiders and Hawks Useful Falcons (are they transports or are they gunboats? Currently they are neither) Artillery Guardians moved from Heavy. Vibrocannon stacking improved to not be a point-sink. Specialist tank hulls unified - Fire Prism, D-Cannon, Shadow Weaver and Vibrocannon turrets are options for one and the same BS4 tank (will make things neater) TL : DR 1. Better cost efficiency in 50% of the codex 2. More options and more toys on non-aspect warriors 3. Less "same but different" unit options

Pestilent Plague Marine with Blight Grenade

Hi Dave,
Ignoring the tidbits I've already seen in your peaks on the other thread, here are some of the things I would love to see in a new codex, but I know that not all or it would be possible without breaking something.
Start at the top, and working my way down...
Generic changes -
Grant a special rule that allow currant models with fleet to move faster. Maybe something similar to Tyranid Gaunts, so they roll 3d6 and pick the highest?
Bring back vehicle JSJ.
Reduce the price of most items and wargear.
Bring back the third shot on starcannons.
A fast Open-Topped Skimmer Transport as a transport option would be more than useful.
Exarch powers should effect the whole squad, not just themselves.
Better BS on vehicles.
Autarchs -
Need better wargear options. These guys should be epic on the battlefield, and it isn't represented right now.
Farseers -
On average, need to be able to cast more psychic powers, and said psychic powers need to be re-tuned. Some good offensive abilities would be good.
Warlocks -
Should have a slightly better profile, and should be able to better support a farseer. Maybe something similar to the apocalypse Seer Council rules?
Avatar of Khaine -
Needs to be more buff. Even at the cost of higher points, he either needs to be able to move across the table faster, or higher stats. He shouldn't have to rely on fortune to save him from death.
Phoenix Lords -
Invulnerable save added, more incentive to attach these guys to a unit of their aspect.
Striking Scorpions -
Would love to see these guys with fleet. They're slower than banshees in the fluff, but their still faster than most other non-eldar units. Also, a better delivery system then a wave serpent would be useful.
Howling Banshees -
These girls need a better delivery system. Wave serpents are unreliable at best.
Harlequins -
Some more variety would be great. I miss the greater harlequins and the like.
Dire Avengers -
Longer range on their guns.
Rangers -
Better sniper rules. Another option would be to make their snipers assault weapons, so they can move and still fire them.
Guardians -
Price reduction, their just expensive guardsmen right now.
Shining Spears -
2 base attacks instead of 1, and their lances are AP1 and are always power weapons, not just on the charge.
Warp Spiders -
Make the spinners AP6
Swooping Hawks -
No clue how to fix these buggers. But they need to be fixed...
Vypers -
With JSJ reinstated, just a point reduction would make these viable again.
Support Weapon Battery -
Reduced price, more variants, maybe some longer ranges.
Dark Reapers -
Slow and purposeful would do them a lot of good.
Wraithlord -
More base attacks, and some way to ward off long range fire, as there isn't a way to grant them that protection reliably at this point.
That's all I can really think of for now. Good luck

Need more 'name' characters.
For me Eldar tech needs to be modelled better. I would happily see points increases to get a more elite army. I think all Eldar should be extremely fast and have very deadly weapons and strong armour. Without this the fluff is illogical, given the terrible danger of losing their souls and their very high tech why would Eldar fight in anything less than the best gear?
I'd want to go for the DE model, base troops with decent stats and weapons and then more powerful types available. Again I would happily see higher points for better stats. I would give guardians BS and WS 4, then give the various aspects WS or BS 5 depending upon their speciality. Perhaps tech upgrades could give Strength boosts for close combat types. I would shy away from higher Toughness as I think that is in the Eldar background.
Also why, oh why would Eldar hobble themselves with vehicles crewed by BS3 pilots? Can they not have targetting arrays or something to boost them to BS4. It is virtually perverse. I suppose you could argue that wave serpents might go that way but falcons? I like the idea of one base vehicle model with varying options of equipment and weaponry that would allow differing amounts of troops to be carried. This could also allow an assault vehicle equipment package which would reduce the load-out to 5 troops, say.
Phoenix lords could allow larger units of aspect warriors as sort of super officers, perhaps upping the limit to double.
It would be nice to see more wraith units to build upon wraithlords and wraithguard.
New models for wraithguard to replace the existing dogs!

The return of Eldar having the greatest offense in 40k.
They used to arm militia with a weapon that could wipe out a squad of Space Marines in one shot. Now it almost never even gets to fire.

Lowering of a the points on a few things mentioned, the WS, lances etc.
Shuriken catapult getting an overhaul, it needs increased range or defender guardians might as well just have "charge me" signs on them.
An ability to do proper hit and run stuff as an armywide rule would be nice. Not hit and run as it stands maybe fleet units may move d6" in the assault phase without needing to charge to represent them running after the shot.
Webway item
Warlocks being WARlocks, ability to take 2 powers and the powers being more offensive/enhance units for offense
Bringing back the seer council as an HQ choice, would need major points balancing though.
Overhaul Eldritch Storm so its considered a choice you'd pay for.
Elites are solid
Most troops are solid, DA may need a look in for their defend power, make it useful bonus type thing, not dropped to minmax.
Plasma granades on storm guardians, haywire grenade option would be nice but possibly overpowered
Fast attack hurts...
Remove open topped from Vypers and I'd be happy at that
Let hawks drop grenades ala RT/2nd ed during a jump, beef their weaponry a little. Overhauls aspect powers and also the warp spiders deep strike exarch power.
I dunno how you can adjust shining spears currently.
Heavy support is a little too cluttered, but I feel with the current choices and ruleset moving anything out of this section just makes minmax armies a no brainer. eg: War walkers become fast attack, you will see 9 WW and 3 prisms in each army.
Reapers having the choice of anti infantry and an anti tank shot for a slightly higher pointage would be fair and a great idea.
Wraithlords... With weapon price decreases and the sword becoming a useful option they would be thought of a choice more.
Aspect/exarch wraithlords I feel are a bad idea, the fluff is that exarchs soulstones remain in their armour and the Exarchs personality continues as a new Eldar dons the armour. Seerlords sure go for it, their spirits are allowed to wander round the infinity matrix.
Maybe an upgrade to allow a falcon to fire str6 weapons as defensive, not too cheap, but not so expensive people laugh at the though of taking it.
A few spur of the moment ideas, overall Eldar still have a fairly solid codex so theres very little I feel needs fixing. Plus things like Dark Reapers having slow and purposful... Erm, I think some people just want stuff so obviously broken it makes GK look balanced?

I want to see Eldar return as the most powerful race of psykers.
Seriously, this defines their race for me. They should have the option to completely shut down the opposing psychic powers, whilst buffing/destroying at will with their own. Maybe all Exarch powers should be psychic ones, the Autarchs should get some offensive powers, and Warlocks should be available to more squads. Really, this is what makes Eldar unique, let them dominate at it.

I would like to see an upgrade/power which you can buy for the howling banshees so that they can consolidate into another assault after finishing a previous assault. I want warp spiders with rending OR 3 shots each, same strength, same AP. I'd also like cheaper transports, new aspects and 18 inch rapidfire catapults for guardians, and more attacks for wraithlords. Overall, I think the Eldar codex is quite sound in terms of its pricing and power, but just needs some extra tweaking to make it able to compete with recent codexes.

The things I think are crucial:
-Reduced cost on most units in the FA/HS slots, especially vehicle upgrades. Also cheaper autarchs and Phoenix lords.
-Options to make aspect squads troops or at least scoring.
-More access to AP 1 & melta weapons
Things I would personally like to see:
-Wraithguard given either an extra wound or FNP (possibly through Spiritseer/bonesinger)
-Wraithlords given a 4+ invulnerable save and/or eternal warrior
-ASSAULT RAMPS!!!
-Banshees given furious charge
-Pathfinders made into an "exarch" unit, bestowing their bonuses and abilities on the rest of a ranger squad
-1 support weapon choice per 10 squad members for guardian defenders
-1 heavy weapon choice per 5 squad members for storm guardians
-A special character or two for every main craftworld, with rules that support the type of army build in that craftworld's fluff. Bring back Nuadhu and Iyanna!

- Improved phoenix lords and add those missing (Warp spiders!)

Spawn of Chaos

- either huge point reductions on everything, or everything made way better.
- phoenix lords become upgrades to aspect squads, and make the aspect squad they're in scoring.
- Autarchs need to be about as good as an archon.
- eldar are supposed to be the psychic gods of 40k, and based on how crazy GK are, I expect 1 of 2 things.
(1) a few insane offensive psychic powers that make warp rift look like a hand flamer and living lightning look like smite. Eldritch storm should do something like a d3+1" radius, and cause 1 hit on all vehicles 1-2 nothing, 3-4 glance, 5-6 pen and d6 S5 AP5 hits on all infantry units in it's area. I like the vehicle spin rule so let's keep that. Also make Runes of Warding have a 24" or 30" range but otherwise stay the same
(2) guide and fortune range increased to 12", and become auras. so if a farseer cast guide, it would affect everyone within 12". Doom should change to be a buff for one friendly unit/tank and give them tank hunters or re-roll to wound. Enhance should give +1 to all stats except S T and W and continue affecting the whole unit. Destructor should be a variable AP, conceal should give stealth, embolden is fine. There should also be a farseer version of conceal that is a 6" aura that gives stealth to all friendly units in that aura. Runes of warding should remain board wide and make enemies take perils on the roll of a 10 or more.
In both cases eldar psykers should be able to cast 2 per turn, (3 for a 25 point upgrade), and should subtract 1 from enemy psychic hood/rune weapon rolls. I strongly believe that the scariest thing about the eldar should be their psychic powers.
-I'd like the crystal targeting matrix back, and I wouldn't mind it being a 25 point upgrade.
-falcons, war-walkers, and vypers should be BS 4, I have no problem with wave serpents being BS 3 because their main gun is TL.
-starcannons should be 3 shots
-wraithguard should have a 5++, and wraithlords a 4++ and the sword should give them +1 or 2 attacks
-howling banshees should have furious charge.
-guardians need 18" or 24" guns.
-dire avengers need the pistol/CCW/main gun loadout that grey hunters have.
-wave serpents should be able to buy a 20-25 point assault ramp.
-give swooping hawks haywire blasters, actually that would fix them at their current point level.
-give dark reapers 2 firing modes and slow and purposeful.
-exarchs should be a 5 point upgrade at most or just come standard like marine sergeants.
-warlocks should be like wolf guard and be able to split up and lead other squads.
-Shuriken cannon standard on all vehicles. Then pay points to upgrade it to other weapons. (the bottom gun on wave serpent chassis and the vyper should still need to be upgraded to a cannon.)
-Avatar needs to be 5 or 6 wounds and have a 2+ or 3+ with a 3++, also change the fearless aura to a stubborn aura.
-shining spears need to have 1 more attack and always have pwr weapons. (S6 only on the charge)
-holofields are fine but I''d like to see them cost 15-20 points.
-spirit stones should make the vehicle able to ignore shaken on a 2+ or 3+ and stunned on a 4+ or 5+
-grenades need to be proliferated like in a marine codex.
-remove harlequins, they're stupid.
- striking scorpions need to have marbo deployment and be able to assault when they arrive or have 2+ cover.
-35 point option webway portal that sets up before deployment and can be used the same way as the DE one.
-1-3 bonesingers as an elite choice. They split up and act as ICs and are basically techmarines.
-fire prism high S shot is a single shot, not a small blast.
I really dont expect all of this. Even half of what I listed here would be fantastic.

I haven't read the entirety of the rest of the posts, so apologies if things have been covered. Here's my breakdown, with things I'd really like to see bolded. Autarch: Pretty much fine as-is. Farseer: Pretty much fine as-is. I'd like to see him given an advantage vs hoods. And, give him an offensive power or two that doesn't suck. Warlocks: Improve conceal. Avatar: Give upgrade options. Preferibly, something that allows him to move a little faster. Yriel: T4 or EW. Eldrad: Fine as-is. Drop the witchblade to make rules easier. Phoenix Lords: Need major improvement and cost reduction across the board. Scorpions: Make infiltrate default and give stealth as Exarch power. Dragons: Fine as-is. Wraithguard: Make plastic models . S6 and invul save please. Banshees: War Shout should give FC. Harlequin: Allow a transport. Cost reduction or make Kiss free. Wave Serpent: Fine as-is. Possibly give it 2 fire points. Other DT: Banshees, Scorpions, and Harlequins need some sort of assault transport or open-topped transport. DA: Fine as-is. Possibly give range bonus to shots. Rangers: BS 5. Drop points slightly. Guardians: Major work needs to be done. Make 6 points, extend catapult range, make BS 4 (possibly through new Warlock power), add more heavy weapons, give them a "stand and shoot" option when charged. Find something to make them work. Storm Guardians: Fine as-is. Guardian Jetbike: Slight point drop. And, give riders a pistol with a few options for upgrades. Shining Spears: Major point reduction needed. All riders should be allowed weapon upgrades. Warp Spiders: Pretty much fine as-is. Maybe give their guns an AP 6. Swooping Hawks: Major overhaul required. Their design space needs to be completely reworked, since they're just really bad Warp Spiders right now. Perhaps turn them into an assaulting deep strike unit like Vanguard Vets. Vyper: Remove Open-topped, give BS4. Support Weapons: Not much you can do here. Artillary are just really bad and would need to be fixed in the BGB. Reapers: Point decrease or extend Fast Shot and Crack Shot to the entire squad. Maybe give relentless. Wraithlord: Drop TL if you take 2 of same gun. Give some sort of invul save.Give an additional CC attack. War Walker: Fine as-is. BS 4 would be nice. Falcon: BS4 is needed. Also, let them move 12" and fire everything. Fire Prism: Make Prism Cannon an ordinance gun. Barrage would be nice, but probably OP. Starcannon: Needs a major upgrade. Either make 3 shots or make ignore/reduce cover saves. Add back in Craftworld specific rules. Either do this through special characters, or just make a selection to move units around in the FOC.

Are you serious? They aren't amazing or anything, but Guardian models are absolutely fine. Their rules, on the other hand, need a points rebalancing. They're too expensive for being so mediocre.

Calling their rules mediocre is being quite generous.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Some ideas here are cool but many are so unrealistic it would make playing Eldar a stigma really. 6 wound avatar with 3++ and fortune is apocalypse material not normal wh40k.
Too many things here are just current Eldar++. They are fixing current codex, not creating something new. I really hope that there will be some shiny, interesting and original units and vehicles. Focus should be made on speed, psyhic powers and being as annoying as . I want my opponents to be irritated, my Eldar to be unpredictable and full of tricks. I don't want this army to be just powerful. I want it to back stab, deny abilities, run away and hit again where no other army can. After a game my opponent should stare silently and wonder WTF just happened to his unstoppable army. Give me internal balance and I would be happy. I want my army to be made of many different units, not [best vehicle]-spam or [annoying unit]-wing.
Impossiible, but a man can dream though.. A man can dream..

Yeah. No appreciation for combos there - fortune being a 12" bubble with a 3++ rerollable T6 W6 avatar? No. Fething. Way.
Guardians and guardian driven vehicles are BS3 for a damn good, entirely fluff based reason. Theyre militia, most havent had any form of ballistics training and just pick up a gun and are as accurate as guardsmen after 6 months of basic. BS4 is totally and unequivocally unjustified - BS4 isnt like sweets, not everyone shoudl get it.

I totally agree about the Avatar. 4W is plenty if he gets a 3++.
As for the BS3 on vehicles, that's the part I disagree with. It does make sense if vehicles are piloted by guardians.
But, why the hell are Eldar vehicles all piloted by the militia? I'd like to see a new Aspect that is focused on being vehicle pilots. Perhaps make using them a vehicle upgrade.

3++ rerollable (face it, he WILL be if you give him this) requires you put 9 wounds on him before he will fail 1.
9 wounds on a T6 creature that ignore his armour, which people are suggesting needs to be a 2+. And you need to do this 4 times.
Vehicles ARE piloted by guardians - read the fluff. The aspects focus on one aspect of Khaines path, and flying a big tank isnt one of them.
