You haven't put a range on the Demise Cannon, and Gets Hot! does nothing to vehicles so isn't needed.

Dreads don't have wounds, so can't be "instant-killed" anyway, making Mind Shield pointless.

Also, short of GKs with hammers, not many people will be able to do anything but glance him in close combat (maybe some special characters/BA libbys with sword).

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

I said in close combat. So my beloved vindi (man I love that guy, hes so cool) is out, and unless people have access to dreads and manage to get them into combat with him (without getting messed up by the other dreads present) then they are pretty sunk. But good point, other dreads can probably take him alright, like Furioso dreads (although only 1 army gets them)

And you can't instant death something that doesn't have wounds I'm pretty sure

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Is the 700 next to the name the points cost? If it is only people playing apocalypse would be able to take him.
You could also make him a possible HQ choice.
What could he swap the weapons out for?
Maybe give him a higher BS?

No, they can't because Dreads don't have wounds. The Force Weapon ability causes Instant Death on an unsaved wound, and Daemonbane forces a test on an unsaved wound. Dreads don't have wounds, so can never suffer an unsaved wound.

He isn't that untakable in games. This is a fun list I would create if he was official at ard-boyz:

But that army would be no fun to play, or play against. You shoot at me, I move closer and try to melta, repeat and repeat. Slight variations with landraiders and the like, but basically it would be just so boring to play!

BTW, troop dreads cannot score because they are vehicles. Look at Death Company dreads and Ork Deff dreads. If you want them to be able to score, you need to say so explicitly (i.e. dreads may be selected as a troop choice as well as heavy support. Troop dreads count as scoring units).

Also, give this guy an invuln please. For 700pts, I'd give him a 4++ Invuln. It's handy against monstrous creatures, who will tear him apart.

No they can't. ID only works against infantry and things with a T value, not vehicles.

700pts? Really? People don't take LR's for 250pts because they just die too easy, and you think people would even think about sinking 700pts into a model that can get popped by a single ravager?

No. I would consider him worth about 300-350pts as is, or a 50% price drop.

Grey Knights don't use plasma or las-weapons.

Taking only Dreadnoughts as Troops means you will never win an Objectives based game since vehicles cannot claim.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

I honestly don't think its a good idea in principle. Other than that, he is overcosted and some of the rules don't make sense or aren't needed. Currently it looks like apocalypse only, so if you wanted to take this in a normal game, it would need some serious re-tooling.

Start with Bjorn's stats and rules and modify from there. He's a cool dreadnought character.

Grey Knight Dreadnoughts with Unyielding Anvil can. Ravenwing Land Speeder can. You just need to write in a special rule that allows them to do so.

What would I be selecting a unit for? Why select 1 unit only to have every unit take the perk? Would it not be better to remove this rule altogether, but give the option of spending x points per dread for re-rolls (ala Urien Rakarths ability to increase the strength of grotesques for 5ppm)? Could be randomly generated as to whether they were ranged or close combat re-rolls too, make it a little more interesting for your opponents and less one sided, you need some weakness. Aside from speed.

One suggestion would be that these dreads can't be mounted in stormravens, though I'm debating this one with myself as I write it...

I kinda like the idea of going up against an army full of dreads, but then I collect DE, armor means nothing to me! Mwahahaha! Darklight for the ages!!!!!

That Path is supposed to be "pick one ENEMY unit ... reroll failed hits and wounds AGAINST THAT UNIT." I think.

Ahhhhhh I see, that would make more sense, though may need clarifying / specifying to IC's only, otherwise you could (potentially) nominate tactical squads / boyz etc and have re-rools against all of that ilk... maybe.

Sorry, I thought it was for every unit against every unit.

700p is ridiculous, it's like giving a free victory to any tau player using railguns or other army using fast meltas.
Eldar and dark eldar lances would laugh at a 700 point vehicle that is basically AV12.


A "super" dreadnought character could simply be a ven dread with some additional rules like:
1: AV 13, 13, 10.
2: Blessed armour - ignoring all lance weapon special rules.
3: Ceramite armour - ignoring melta weapon special rule.
4: 4++ save.
5: 5 attacks so it can actually earn more then token points back in melee.
6: Making all dreadnoughts scoring.
7: Making all dreadnoughts either taking troop slots or heavy slots (ven dreads are still elite).
8: Can deepstrike (like other GK units)
9: Come with a heavy psycannon and incinerator. Can opt to switch the heavy psycannon for a multimelta or heavy psilencer for free. Can opt to switch the incinerator for a heavy incinerator for a point cost.

Even then I wouldnt price the thing far from around 250 points.

I think this was poorly planned and thought out. Seriously.

He needs to go down to Str 6. He dosen't even have a DCCW for feth's sake.

He also doesn't need Aegis, as he already has Reinforced Aegis. This would mean -5 to Ld when he is around, not to metion the other Dreads Reinforced Aegis mernas that you will need a snake eyes, which is Perils, to pass.
