I'm not going to name any names here, but on deviantart, I noticed that there is quite a few Neo-Nazi Warhammer 40k fans; if you look at the chaos fan group, the leader himself is a neo-nazi(he has the view that the world is falling apart because people are too nice and tolerant) and he has his group of friends who have the infamous flashing seizure inducing swastika icons;

Some of you who have DA accounts might know of them and I would like to know what you think of them;

I personally do not like them and in fact, they almost turned me away from Warhammer 40k as for a while, because of them, I thought most Warhammer 40k fans(especially those who play chaos) were going to be like them and didn't think the Warhammer 40k was going to be a friendly community(but that was before I actually stepped inside a FLGS)

That's not what Nazism is, this is what the word actually means: A branch of fascism that incorporates antisemitism and biological racism.

Probably be shocked maybe even turned off, certainly give me a strong bias although to be honest very few GW fans are actually Nazis. Maybe give this thread a poll as well.

The artist's political and social beliefs do not necessarily impact the subjective qualities of his art and its right to be admired for what it is. Many artworks address social and philosphical issues, and these themes also make a brilliant piece of artwork that is designed to question the viewer's opinions and beliefs. However, if the piece is a form of propaganda or subliminal messaging promoting the artist's beliefs, it loses its right to subjectivity.

The fact that the artist may be a Neo - Nazi shouldn't lead you to judge his 40k artwork or the 40k universe in general.

I've read some of his journals and he really doesn't care what you think of him. And despite his political views, he's a pretty good artist and that's what I'm looking for.

I think the OP is justified. If I had to play 40k against, or thought I would be playing against a bunch of Neo-nazis, I wouldn't play. There is no way I'd want to associate with them. It's that simple.

It's not about them liking ice cream and hating Mexican food.

Id have to say, I agree pretty much with this. Do I honestly agree with the guy and his views? No. Does his views actually affect my way of life? Not in the least. Am I gunna pretend to be better/higher then the guy because of that? Nope. People are free to believe what ever they want to believe in.

I'd still rather not be in the company of people who consider my other friends/family subhuman ad offend them freely. Which has happened to me, though thankfully not in the 40k hobby.

I'm not saying we should try and just play people who adhere to our ideology 100%, but it helps of it's not wholly offensive.

I'm leaving the thread open because I think it's not a bad topic at all. If all I knew about 40k was that Neo -Nazis really liked it, I would not want to be associated with it or feel any desire to learn more about it. That seems reasonable to me.
