I've been allowed, for our house campaign, to make a couple simple changes to accomodate running a vanilla SM army as Adeptus Mechanicus.
So far, this has been approved by the group, considering that the entire army is pretty much techmarines.
Master of the forge can replace his 'bolster defenses' ability with an ability called 'bolster machine spirit' which adds +1 BS to 1 Vehicle.
3 Techmarines may be selected as Troops Choices instead of elite choices; but are not scoring units unless attached to at least 1 servitor.
Scouts are replaced with Hyspastits; same statline as scouts but fearless and armed with Lasguns, up to 3 scouts can upgrade to hot-shot lasguns for +2PPM; sargeant may be upgraded as normal scout sargeant.
Devastator Squads are replaced with Sagitarii: No change, but plasma weapons don't get hot and cost +2 PPM.
Praetorians: Elite choices, pretty much obliterators from the CSM Codex.
All tanks may be upgraded to Skimmers w/Landing gear (tau codex) for a 10% cost increase to the base vehicle.
Unfortunately, We approved all these rules before we actually tried building an army using them, so I'm going to present an overhaul, I figured I'd get some feedback and ideas from the community. Nothing out of bounds, Ideally I'd like to bring a 10 item list of changes to be discussed.
