I've been allowed, for our house campaign, to make a couple simple changes to accomodate running a vanilla SM army as Adeptus Mechanicus.
So far, this has been approved by the group, considering that the entire army is pretty much techmarines.

Master of the forge can replace his 'bolster defenses' ability with an ability called 'bolster machine spirit' which adds +1 BS to 1 Vehicle.
3 Techmarines may be selected as Troops Choices instead of elite choices; but are not scoring units unless attached to at least 1 servitor.
Scouts are replaced with Hyspastits; same statline as scouts but fearless and armed with Lasguns, up to 3 scouts can upgrade to hot-shot lasguns for +2PPM; sargeant may be upgraded as normal scout sargeant.
Devastator Squads are replaced with Sagitarii: No change, but plasma weapons don't get hot and cost +2 PPM.
Praetorians: Elite choices, pretty much obliterators from the CSM Codex.
All tanks may be upgraded to Skimmers w/Landing gear (tau codex) for a 10% cost increase to the base vehicle.

Unfortunately, We approved all these rules before we actually tried building an army using them, so I'm going to present an overhaul, I figured I'd get some feedback and ideas from the community. Nothing out of bounds, Ideally I'd like to bring a 10 item list of changes to be discussed.

Pretty good overall, possibly take servitors as troops (max 10 in one unit, twice the amount of HW) instead of the techmarines?

I would head over and check out Marik Law's Chapter Creator pdf here in the forums. It's pretty handy and has some good ideas for creating unique troops/wargear and HQ's. It might, at the least, provide some insight for upgrade costs and such.

Please comment on my Inquisitor and his rules!

Cool, will do, I was actually looking through the chapter creator

What I'm really looking for is some creative ideas for representing the AM. Like converting a libriarian into a Magos or something.


Servitors as troops:
10 base + 15 PPM, 3 for every 5 can upgrade to HB, MM, or PC for 20, 30 and 30 respectively (to keep with existing costs, not sure if that balances now)
Every squad of servitors allows 1 techmarine to be selected as a troop choice like Tervigon/Termagants?
or
Allow the selection of techmarines as an elite squad 1-3 like sanguinary priests, so that every squad of Servitors can have a techmarine to present mindlock?
