I am being drug to Burning Man next year and was wondering if fellow gamers went to this as well.

First ever in the middle of the desert blistering heat warhammer event?!

Not sure if there are any gamers going, but perhaps some who worship Slaanesh.

Are you saying you wlll be the narcotic available at the event?
Or that you will be kidnapped after someone slips you a mickey finn, bundles you in the boot (trunk) of the car, and you wake up at the event?

It doesn't need to be fantasy, it could be 40k

I promised my wife I would finally go, even if I don't wanna. I said part of the condition is that IF I can find warhammer there, I am gonna go play. I am sure there is lots to see, but not being a big drinker and doing no drugs, plus hating trance and dance music and hippies, there is only so much of Burning Man I can take. Warhammer might be a decent escape for a couple minutes. Plus, 70k people there? Gotta be SOMEONE who plays.

If you actually play a game there, do a Battle Report for heaven's sake. There's bound to happen something hilarious.

This kind of strikes me as going to an airshow and expecting ballet to be available.

Im gonna go with no dude. Lots of chemically altered hippies and counter-culture types, stuff on fire, possibly some cool art...but Id bet heavily against gaming.

Whatever you do, don't bring anything resin or fincast. It will warp, and you will be sad.

Good luck finding a game. It could happen, though you're better off asking around at a burning man group/forum/whatever than here. Unfortunately, whether you get a game or not, based on your feelings about the event, it sounds like you're in for a sad vacation.

However, there are a few things to look forward to:

1) The building and burning of the life-size temple.
2) Last year (or maybe even previously) they had a 4 legged mech that walked! (albeit slowly)
3) Odd art exhibits

You might end up having a good time.

I played a vicious 2 day 40K battle at Glastonbury Rock Festival a few years back (in a huge pavilion ), to the accompanyment of some kick-ass music

And way way way too much caffiene..

People going to Burning Man are expected to participate actively by presenting some kind of art.

Therefore, recreate a game of 40K in lifesize. You will need to recruit a couple of squads and dress up, so choose costumes that are easy to make. If you are ambitious you could make a couple of art cars into armoured vehicles.

Also, if you don't like the music or art styles on presentation, no amount of nakedness or near nakedness is going to fix that.

However, you do have the option to stay home and paint your man-dollies and let the wife/girlfriend have a weekend alone having fun with some naked unwashed hippies...

Not a problem for me, she'd never go. My wife's a Republican who's also a Military Officer. She hates hippies more than I do.

The "Man" is the main thing that is burned. They don't burn art cars and stuff. A friend of mine operated a double-decker London bus service there a couple of years back. I can assure you he did not burn the bus at the end of the festival.

Thunderdome camp was in fact the main reason that we went.
