Hi again all,
I built and painted this mammoth a while ago, but it took a while before I was able to take pictures of it.
It's a very nice and large kit, although it would require quite a lot of adaptation to de-dark angels it, if you want to use it for a different chapter, which seems like an odd choice by GW to me. Also I was sick of painting skulls after I finished this one
I didn't go very creative on this one, even the paint scheme was pretty much copied from the box image. I am however proud that every little detail on this behemoth is painted, which in my experience is not often the case with larger terrain pieces.

Enjoy and C&C, as always, is welcome.

I've not seen this piece before but I must say that it turned out beautifully.

I agree with you on questioning GW's decision to make it chapter specific, particularly Dark Angels. I would have thought if they were going to go that route they'd have gone with Ultramarines instead. How odd.

Would love to play on a table with that as a center piece. nicely done

Very true. It seems almost counter-intuitive, that the larger and more prominent the piece, the less work usually goes into it. This can actually work in your favor, though, because when you do bother detailing one (even using simpler/cruder techniques than one might on an infantry model), like you've done here, it's all the more impressive. And I will say, this thing does look impressive.

Wonderful. It's clear you spent quite a lot of time on the details. It looks great.

Lice the sculls, the one that my local gaming center has painted the skulls like marble. Nice effect but I like this one more.

Thanks for the comments.
I always enjoy working on bigger models, even if I still underestimate the amount of hours I have to put in every time (I am a sloooow painter).

I'm currently renovating our new house, so will take a while before I'll have time for the hobby again, but I'll share the next bit as well ( I have this imperial city box sitting here).

Cheers.
