Having a discussion with some folks about the nature of spoilers. For
some, spoilers are the devil. For others, spoilers make no difference
one way or the other so long as the story itself is well written.
Where do you fall in this debate (if you can even call it that)?
And please, when giving spoiler examples, use the spoiler tags.

I appreciate it when people throw in spoiler tags. Specially if its about something Im interested in, its nice not accidently figuring out how a movie ends, or who was the bad guy in a book. Infact someone ruined the ending of the last Harry Potter on here, because they just came out with it.

As I said, depends on how much. Games and toys, I want spoilers on what's upcoming(products for tabletop games and toylines, features for vidja games). For movies and shows, I want to know who's in it(as in what characters and such) but I stay away from spoilers for story/plot.

Put me down as a fan of spoilers. It's especially annoying when it's for a game that I want to play, but haven't gotten around to yet (biggest one being Fallout 3). I was finally getting into the meat of the game, and an errant read through a thread led someone to completely spoil the ending for me. Especially when it's a big plot twist or something like that, I hate losing that feeling of "Wait, what's happening? Oh man, this is going in a completely different direction than I thought!"

I don't much care about getting spoiled, to be honest. I can think of maybe five movies I've ever seen that I enjoyed more because I really wanted to know what was about to happen. I can think of a whole lot more where I got to the twist and thought 'that was stupid, wish I hadn't sat through that'. Then there's a bunch of films that I think I enjoyed more because I'd already found out the big twist, and I just enjoyed seeing how it was building up to that moment. So far more often than not I'll 'spoil' the movie for myself.
That said, I'm definitely pro-spoiler, even though I almost always click on them, because they let everyone decide for themselves if they want to click on them.

I've been told that to see what's behind the spoiler, you have to really believe there's something there.

I despise spoilers, simply because it ruins the experience of finding it out yourself. The problem is, spoilers are everywhere these days. If a movie comes out that sounds pretty good to you, rest assured that the trailer will give away everything.
Also, the spoiler tag does nothing when you highlight threads. I let go of my mouse one day and the cursor landed on the gears 3 thread. The last post jumped straight into a major spoiler that got thrown into the screen. Made me very sad.

I try to avoid spoilers for movies I am about to see or books I am reading. I always try and use spoiler tags because it gives the choice to the reader. They may not wish to know that for example.

I don't like spoilers for things I'm invested in.
You only get to watch something as a surprise once, after that you only get repeats. You only get the original surprise once and I would much more prefer to get that surprise unfold on the screen than read it online because some douche wants to spoil the ending for everyone.
I would have been pretty upset if someone had spoiled the last episode of LOST after I had been watching it for 6 years, the same with Battlestar Galactica. I watch Doctor Who every week. Unlike some fanboys who are wetting themselves to know every detail I'm quite happy to wait a week for a new set of surprises.
I don't mind the very small thing that might whet your appetite. Like saying "The Wirrin are going to be the in the next series of Doctor Who", but I strictly don't want plot details like "Jess dies" or "Burt turns out to be a double agent".
It's the same with non-fiction things too. How would you feel if you'd recorded a much anticipated sports programme and were spoiled as to the final result? Last year the BBC did this with a Formula 1 race. It was shown very early morning, and then repeated in the afternoon for normal people who don't get up at 3am. So what do the BBC do on the midday news only half an hour before the repeat? They tell you the result. Without any warning at all, no "look away now if you don't want to know the result" like they do with the football scores. They just said "the PM has gone to Brussels and there was a train crash somewhere abroad and in sporting news Sebastian Vettel has won the Brazilian Grand Prix".
I was incensed by that. Without any warning, to just tell everyone the result of the following sporting programme that's starting on your own channel in little over half an hour. Un-fething-believable.
In general though, if you don't go looking for spoilers on fictional programmes you won't find them. I didn't get spoiled for the last season of Doctor Who at all. I didn't go into lockdown or anything, its just that when you're not interested in spoilers you tend to skim over and just not take them in. It's only when someone makes a point of blurting it out that you end up spoiled. These people are inconsiderate douchebags.

I not only hate spoilers, but I hate the knowledge that spoilers exist.
Once you know that there are spoilers, you've already been spoiled that there's some plot point worth spoiling.
So, please, if there's a spoiler, don't discuss it at all. Keep it to yourself.
(I also completely avoid trailers and reviews of anything I'm remotely considering seeing.)

Spoilers don't bother me that much. But, I would much rather see a thread title say something like "Spoilers inside@@!!!!@" than spoiler tags. If it's in the title, then lazy people like me don't have to worry about remembering to add the tag in the first place.
