Hi dakka,

I hope this is the right forum, as I have a rules question.

I'm starting a space wolves army and was deciding which hq model to use as my rune preist, and I'm not particularly thrilled with the SM models available, the one sorcerer model I do really like is the chaos sorcerer in power armor. My space wolves fluff is that its the thirteenth company/a chapter descended from the space wolves that was lost in the warp, and when they arrived out of it, they discovered the imperium of man to be corrupt and villanous, and the forces of chaos to be abbhorent and evil. Left with this, they have become a rouge chapter neither chaotic nor in line with the imperium. They have fought inquisitors, demons, and the vile xeno as well. But on their crusade, they have had to scavenge their equipment(including armor): I had planned to mix in some chaos bits into the SW grey hunter boxes, and make the paint scheme represent this as well.

So with this in mind, is it ok for me to use a chaos sorcerer model as a SW rune priest? There would be some converting, and I would reduce the chaos iconography on it but if I go to a store and play casual games will people be angry? Or at a tournament such as a rouge trader?

And is it ok to mix in chaos bits on my marines and use SW rules? The fluff of the game is one of the most impirtant parts of the hobby for me and I really like making a story and background for my army and modeling to represent it. But will I get in trouble or not be allowed to play?

Keep in mind, all weapons, wargear, and such would be wysiwyg.
(I always forget how to spell rouge/rogue as well sorry)

Thanks for any comments/feedback!

If your converting ... then make it look good, give them the equipment they should have and you'll do fine

Rule of cool usually stands in this case, if your "sorcerer" is in the right colours to be your rune priest and looks like they are carrying the right equipment, go for it, just do your best to make it look good.

Where's that giant Heresy! image when you need it?

Just keep in mind that the opinions of the actual, real people you're going to play with are a bit more important than the opinions of random Internet people.

No problems from me. I run my Night Lords using the Blood Angels book. I've never had a problem at any tournament. My librarians are sorcerors, my assault marines are CSM's with chapterhouse Jump packs.

Rool of cool.

All right so im going to go ahead and use the Chaos sorcerer, and also just buy a rune priest model and have it in case there is any serious issues at a tournament, thanks all! I can use the cool model for a while and probably wont buy the rune priest till i plan an actual tourney.
