well, finally got my first orks. I have 2 sets of AOBR orkz and I have started painting.
The first one was pretty terrible, but I am quite proud of the 2nd one.

At one a day I should be finished about Independence day....

First ork
I tried to add flames from a you tube tutorial...and they are really bad...need alot more work. The eyes were tough but I bought a new brush and made up for it on the second one.

Second ork - Im quite pleased with this one but dang it took a long time...

I updated my pictures more to follow in new post.

The second ork does look cleaner, as far as the paint job, that is. Looks like there's some good weathering too. It's hard to say, though, with the yellow background. It's washing out (is that the right word?) the yellow and other colors on the models. The background is taking over the model. It might be due to the light, as well.

I don't think the flames are as bad as you might think, either... but it's hard to say with the yellow. Keep going, get some new pics up (check out the articles section for tuts on taking pics) and I think this will be a great waaagh.

Hmm per your advice I read some tutorials on how to photo miniatures. Picking up some supplies to make a photo box this evening. I should have some much better pics up by Thursday.

Who knew I was going to be reading up on photography to paint mini's!!!

It's funny how this hobby takes over. You might continue to be surprised at what you end up researching for these little plastic gits. I've been reading up on all sorts of varied technologies and cultures. It's kind of absurd, but I love it.

YAY..Well I read up on photography and built a light box and aquired a tripod. I still think I need better/more light...Will work on that later.

Group shot of the boys I have finished now

I tried to use the tutorial on modifying AOBR orks I found SOMEWHERE on this site...I couldnt find it again to give the OP props and thank him properly.
My green stuff work was a little messy but I am learning...I think.

And last but not least...I used everything I could read or watch videos for and attempted a high quality painting.. seeing it on the site has illuminated LOTS of stuff I want to fix.
My warboss!! (my buddy worked some photoshop magic to brighten it up for me)

any comments /suggestions for improvement? I would be grateful.

Wow. Improvement between that first pair and the last group you put up is astounding. Keep it up!

so I may have to start a new WIP..
I had a buddy stop by and gave me 2 boxes of junk he found in his new house....

1 box 15 WW2 military vehicle models... tanks, planes, trucks. I smell orc trukks in my future...

2nd box...
Ol Skool pewter warhammer 40k marines.
1 complete box of Grey hunters
1 complete box of Space wolf Termies
1 un opened and un painted pewter old style Bjorn the felhanded Dreadnaught...
1 Njal the storm caller pewter unpainted
1 Ragnar Blackmane pewter unpainted.
1 box of Khorn Berserkers resin unpainted
2 weird demon thingies I cant identify...

Then the buddy I split the ABOR box with decided he didnt want to play 40k and gave me all his marines...Primed but not painted...

Now to strip the bad paint job off the hunters and termies...pewter + enamal = PITA
(they are soaking in a bucket of pinesol right now cause I freind told me that was the best way to pull enamel off of pewter)
