I really had to think about this.....
Legend of Zelda OoT: Was the first Video Game I played, Bought the 3DS just so I could play it at work [on my break of course. ]
Pyschonauts: That was just a brilliant game.
(as much as I hate to admit it) Halo CE: It helped bring FPS to the Console.
the Fallout Series and the Elder Scrolls Series: These are the games I REALLY get involved with, emotionally. This is were I roleplay (hardcore mode was the best thing to ever happen). I dig deep into the backstory of these games and I think F:NV had some of the best DLC ever. Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road were mind blowing, Just as The Shivering Isles for Oblivion was just.... I can't even explain how great the Shivering Isles was. But it's not just those two either. I sunk A LOT of time on Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Areana, Daggerfall, and Morrowind. The only thing that has ever topped the Fallout or Elder Scrolls games (hobby wise) for my love and affection is 40K, Because 40K does not play second Banana to other hobbies.

1. Super Mario Bros. (NES) - Started with this game, and have probably played through it more times than I can remember.
2. Legend of Zelda series, some seem to be a miss *cough*CD-I*cough* and didn't quite like the changes with the Wii controls.
nomsheep wrote:3) resident evil series (excluding anything after four and survivor)
4. League of Legends - Yes I know it's a more simplistic dumbed down DotA.
5. Minecraft
There are many others (Mario Cart DS, Luigi's Mansion, FF IV, Binding of Issac, Gundam vs Gundam series, etc), but the point of the thread seemed to be to try to keep it to 5 so I kept it to the first 5 that came to mind.

I think these are my favorite favorites and ones I keep going back to, very difficult to pick just 5 though
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe - Downloaded a version from Abandonia for the PC the other day and loved it. Set up the Megadrive over the weekend and had a blast and the Megadrive is still there being played. Brings back so many memories of being a kid and my kids loved it too.
Golden Axe - Just a classic, plain and simple.
Tekken 2 - Possibly the best beat em up ever made in my opinion. Who needs fireballs and hundred hand slaps?
Final Fantasy VII - Some may say that the story is borrowed from another of the FF games and that might be true, but I never played it. FF7 is just a beautiful game with amazing characters and a fantastic story.
Dawn of War - The best of them all. I play Dark Crusade most of all but if there was more of a community I would still be playing Vanilla. The Campaign was great.

I don't pick favorites, because if I love a game than I don't love it any more than the others that I love, but these are my all-time favorites:
Starcraft, the greatest RTS of all time.
The Halo Series; the greatest FPS's of all time.
The Gears of War Series; awesome TPS that got me hooked instantly.
Honorable mention: Warcraft 3, for hours on end of awesome gameplay.
