Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

1. Gears of War 3 (XBox)
2. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
3. The Neverhood (PC)
4. River City Ransom (NES)
5. Secret of Mana (SNES)

That's not in any particular order, but they're the games that I still play the most. Except for the Neverhood, since my copy got misplaced in the move. It's also probably not completely accurate, since Starcraft, Warcraft, Age of Empires, Black and White and multiple Zelda games should probably be up there as well.

Mass Effect 2
Skyrim
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Witcher 2
DotA(2)

I just put the games that I absolutely loved. There ones that deserve to be there, like Counter Strike, but those 5 are pretty good for me.

I still maintain that Mass Effect 2 is the greatest game made to date.

Man, this is bring back some memories from my past, being here alone at the apartment this Friday night:

1. EQ

I can think of no game in my past that affected me more than this game. One of my uncles showed it to me and man, I was caught and played that game for SO many hours during school. I remember a few sessions lasting 24+ hours (and being quite dangerous now looking back at it), just running around the world trying to make coin, not get caught by some darkies (I played Vallon Zek, I believe that was the racial pvp server's name was), and just taking in the sights of some of the locations like the Desert of Ro and the Ocean of Tears (I remember fearing crossing the Ocean of Tears because of how deep it was and only having a Swimming skill of 1!).

2. Super Metroid

I have literally lost count the number of times I have beaten this game. Not only on a SNES but with emulators also. It was a dark, gritty, RPG, Action/Adventure packed, story driven (but only slightly by the interactions of the character and bosses) 2d game that had an unusual protaganist for the time, a strong, mysterious female. The gameplay was phenominal for the time with all the interactions of the various tools, weapons, and actions the character could perform.

3. Shining Force I/II

Here is another one of those games from the golden era of console gaming. A typical fairy-tale RPG with characters that grew along with the main character. This is another game that I have played both on the Gensis and emulators many times over. Actually, my name comes from one of the characters in Shining Force I, Zylo the Werewolf (which was a pretty strong character in the game once you promoted him and got his levels up). The stories on both games was kinda weak but the RPG gameplay with turn based movement and tactical combat was amazing.

4. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Oh the memories of all these SNES/Gensis games! We are all familiar with the Legend of Zelda and that melody that played along with the game. Playing as that brave lad (which I thought was human all this time! Never read much into the lore), Link, which was given his father's sword after he died to save the Princess Zelda and Hyrul from the evil Ganon, the game had some of the best aspects of adventure games of the time. A wide open world to explore with only yourself (and your abilities) to limit where you could go.

5. Half-Life

This game was the reason why I stuck to PC gaming. I had a PC when I was around 12 (1997) playing Age of Empires. I first heard of Half Life from a cowboy friend (strange right? heh) and loved the idea of a story driven FPS. Following the story, solving the puzzles, and shooting baddies while all being packaged in a 3d FPS game which involved nuclear physics was never better! And man I remember the first time CS was exposed to me...too many hours typing/screaming into a mic at people in that game.

6 and beyond.

There is so many other games that could easily also make my Top 5. Mech Commander (hey, if you played on MPlayer under the name Black Flag, DUDE you was one funny fellow), Warcraft III (mainly DotA), FFVII...the list could just keep going on as long as I can remember the games. There was so many!

I'm not sure what five through two would be, but my number one pick will always be Chrono Trigger. I'll never forget that sinking feeling when I watched the footage from the day of Lavos for the first time.

And heaven forbid if the Marine would also happen to have an intimidating looking, vertical scar. Then you're surly boned. Those guys are the worst. Not a chance I'd say.
