I've recently received a 1/35th scale Tamiya kit for an LAV-25. In comparrison to a Chimera, it's the same width, maybe a bit thinner, and about half again as long. Would anybody have an issue it being used for something? And are there any suggestions about what it could be used for?

An LAV would really have to be a Chimera I think, not sure it's heavily armed enough to be anything else.

Unless you wanted to make it a special command Vehicle like the Salamander, which is an Imperial Armour model.

I'd be happy to see an "imperialised" LAV as a Guard Vehicle, sure.

The only people you might find issue with is GW staff as I've heard stories of some of them not wanting non-GW models in-store. Whether this is company policy or not I don't know. Most of them I've found though have been willing to accept them, since they're hobbyists like us!

I personally have no issue playing against people with armies including non-GW stuff. And, if anything, the Imperial Guard should be allowed to get away with any kind of vehicle becausae, after all, they aren't a faction just composed of the same vehicles! Different planets/worlds/units will use special vehicles others don't, it's just the nature of the IG. If anything, this kind of stuff fits their fluff.

So no, I'd have no objections to it. Tournaments and stuff are a definite no though.

As for it's use, the only thing I can see it being is a Chimera, really. It just hasn't got the look or firepower to be anything bigger.

I thought MAYBE with the giant turret, I could pop on a different gun and call it something else, also, if I can get just the hull by itself, Thunderhawks, but I do feel this is much better scale for a transport.

You could also use it as any of the chimera hulled vehicles (there is a mortar carrier LAV, as well as an anti-aircraft version - so that covers griffon and hydra).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I've bought a few 1/35 scale vehicles to use myself, so I wouldn't have an issue at all. One day I may even build one or some of them...

I would have no problem w/ it as I've used all manner of scratchbuilt vehicles in my armies over the years & even used a Sd.Kfz.251 as a salamander & sandrails as sentinels.

I plan on using Strykers as IG transports for my Tau allied guard, a little bigger than Chimeras but oh so much cooler looking, I will 40k them up a bit though, and amazingly enough they are cheaper to buy as well..imagine that

will post pics maybe this weekend of my 1st one, make sure to do the same as you finish it.
