Hey guys thought I might show the progress of my Black Legion army and maybe get some feedback from every one.
I just got back in to the hobby after a couple year break and decided that chaos was going to be my army, more specifically Black Legion. I fell in love with the Luna Wolves in Horus Rising and felt it was only appropriate. Also, I have painted 4 chaos armies and this one will be the first one I actually own, I am excited. I'll be posting pictures frequently as I build and paint my tournament army.

Here are the first two obliterators for the army. I am awful with green stuff, but I think they look pretty good on the table. Also, I think I have found how I like to paint black. Just need to touch it up.





I know I'll get some flack for these but I didn't really wanna do Death guard for my Plague Marines. There are tons of chapters in the Black Legion, so I wanted to do something different. I decided to get some marines, pre heresy shoulder pads, guitar string, sand, and have a go at it. These should be finished in the next few days.



This guy is one of my two Daemon Princes. He's the test model for black so i am currently painting black over all of the old highlights lawl. This is also my first attempt at glow from the recesses of parts. Tell me what you think. I used the airbrush to do his base and have started highlighting the skin. The only part done is the wings.

Day 2 of blog
Alright, so I didn't get a ton done today, was pretty busy but did get some done.

First I did some testing for how I want to base my models. I think this is how I am going to go. I will add cork to the bases of all the characters and the infiltrating chosen to give that larger stature and feeling of being in enemy territory.


Second is my first rhino. I know it doesn't look fancy, but I managed to get no gaps on a rhino without green stuff. That in itself is a feat lol. I think I might make the respirator and paint this driver just like the Plague Marine squad it is holding. What do you all think? Also, with all kinds of silly terrain and night fighting rules coming out of the newer books, I put the dozer and search light on just in case. I ran out of room in front though. Because of this I put the light on the back as if someone from the firing point is directing the beam. I think it looks alright. If it looks dorky let me know, it'll be most appreciated. The rhinos will have large chaos stars painted across one of the sides going onto the top.

Regarding your plague marines, perhaps one thing that could make them stand out and seem "tougher" would be to add shields from the Warriors of Chaos pack.

Would look nice IMO. Also remember in 40k, you need round bases! (As you said this was going to be a tournament-ready army.)

I don't know how much I am liking the idea of the shields for the plague marines. However, I think that would be pretty sweet to have on my chosen. I know a few woc players and they are bound to have some. Thanks for the reccomendation.
As for the base, it's just a random one i grabbed out of my bitz box for a test. Not actually gonna use it. Good lookin' out though.

Day 3 of blog

Alright, so I did some work on the obliterator today. Now I have a lesson for everyone. If something seems cool to a 12 y.o. and you think it's a bad idea, don't do it yourself. I had the right arms skin practically done and was like "bro I need a turquoise tint cuz it's demonic. I know, I'll turquoise glaze it then go back over it!" Needless to say the arm looks awful and gets to be repainted back to normal flesh tones tomorrow, yay! Anyways, The obliterator and the plague marines will have finished photos posted tomorrow, it's my day off. Thanks for all of the good comments.

Blog day 4

Alright so I said I would have the obliterator and plague marines done today. Unfortunately I got into a car crash last night. Because of this, I just chilled with my girlfriend all day and recovered. I do have some goodies to show you though. My birthday present from my brother came in today. Here is me opening my Forgeworld Khorne Berzerkers and chain axes.
I will definitely have more for you tomorrow.

Blog day 5

Alright so I got some hobbying done today at my LFGS, where I will be hanging out at alot more often it seems. Almost done with the obliterator. Next session will finish it. I think I am down to highlighting the gold, doing silver, and minor accessories. Once it's all done, I'll get pics with a better camera. I hope you enjoy.

So today I got a big itch to try and make some pre-heresy jump packs. I had some berzerkers laying around that I decided I would try and salvage them and make them raptors.
