Imprisoned in stone, Canterlot Gardens.

I recently joined an escalating campaign, in which the enemy with the highest likelihood of attacking me is fielding a terminator filled deathwing army. How do i stop them from spoiling my Necrons' day?

on the forum. Obviously

1] Doomsday Arks - S9 AP1 main cannon, 72" range

2] Etherlances - S8 AP2, 36" range

3] Heavy Gauss Cannons - S9 AP2, 36" range

4] C'tan with Thunderbolt and gaze of death

5] Just shoot them a lot. Tesla will be handy in this case, due to the high strength and extra hits.

6] Lychguard and Praetorians. Both have power weapons, and IIRC terminators generally have fists, so you should be able to strike first.
I would go with the Lychguard with Shields though, for that nice 4++ save

7] Lords should have warscythes with mindshackle scarabs. If you want to increase their chances of survival, you might want to put a 3++ save on them, but it will be pricy.

In Beil-Tan High Command, plotting the destruction of the Mon-Keigh.

I agree with CthululIsSpy (that was a typful)

Also try boggin them down with scarabs. if they fail even 1 wound their armour disappears for the ret of the game. My Maugan Ra found that out the hard way

Generally if a Terminator fails his save, he won't need it anyway .

If they are bringing vehicles then I would go for the scarabs. If not then they won't be that useful, due to all the S8 power fists floating around.

You shouldn't have any problem with deathwing terminators as max squad size is 5, just go for volume fire power and wittle away. What you should really be worried about is ravenwing squads briging fast melta and assault capability.

If you're not afraid of taking risks:

Necron Deathmarks + Necron Cryptek with Abyssal Staff.

Mark them to wound on a 2+ with the units' attacks.

Make them eat Template AP1.

Clean up the rest with Rapid Fire Sniper shots.

Really? Its not ten? I thought the squad size was the same as normal terminators, around 3-10.

Squad size is max 5

That being said I think deathwing is a very difficult list for crons to deal with for the following reasons.

The termies are fearless.

There will be lots of th/ss, and the cml termies will also have a th/ss

There will be lots of terminators, about 30 of them at 1750

30 of the termies will be scoring units.

A necron all comers list will have problems dealing with 30+ th/ss terminators.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Just focus fire and cause as many wounds as possible. 2+ saves are tough no doubt, but force enough on a 5 man squad and they will fail. Focus fire untill one goes down then move on, as this will limit ability to claim or contest objectives.

Make sure you know where belial and his command squad are. They can have FNP, and a banner for I *think* extra attacks. Plus, lighting claws go at init value and are free swaps. Land raiders will also be round along with dreads, so scarabs or anti tank to deal with those are a good idea. Otherwise I would just pour as much firepower at them as possible.

C'tan that makes all difficult dangerous.
Cryptek that makes them count as being in difficult.
Cryptek with item than reduces their charge move by D3.

You don't need to worry about their shooting; it's the close combat that kills you.
Just back away firing, they take dangerous as they move towards you.
Add in two rounds of them night fighting, and you've pretty much rounded up my whole battle plan.

Oh, command barge to kill land raider. 3 attacks, hits on 4+, does 2D6 + 7 armor pen; in the movement phase; leaving any who disembark to get shot at.

Wraiths. Most defiantly better at killing termies than Triarchs, and still better than Lychguard. Plus they can engage vehicles, are fast enough to hit bikes if necessary, and ignore terrain.

Most terminators these days are TH/SS, so 3++ means AP2 weapons are only twice as effective as anything else. Therefore, for necrons the most cost-effective way to kill them is the gauss flayer, of which you should have a ton in your army if you know what is good for you.

We keep shooting and never stop.

If we're talking TH/SS termies, you're better off just massing gauss fire. If we're talking about regular termies, Eldritch Lances are pretty good at dealing with disembarked termies.

This. If you want to assault Terminators, bring Wraiths. Otherwise go for volume-of-fire...not every die is going to come up 2+. And I have to strongly suggest you not throw Scarabs in against PF or TH Terminators (at least, not unsupported). Each wound insta-kills a base, then No Retreat saves come along...then your Scarabs all die.
