Another one of the failed Finecast I got in a Sword Brethren box: this one had a face which suggests that he had a mild stroke, so it's time for another headswap. The original sword got snapped off when I was removing the head, so I replaced the blade part with a plastic power sword.

I liked the idea of having a quartered pattern on my other HQ, so I did it again on this one,but this time with the traditional librarian blue. To contrast the blue, I made the power weapon orange-y just like how red contrasts the green power weapon on my Vulkan counts-as.

Comments and critiques welcome! Also, please comment and vote on my gallery! Thanks!

Nice work! I have been snooping around looking at your work with the sword brethren and I must say you do enjoy them being fine cast! Makes me want to grab a box of them to convert as well. but again, enjoying the take you have on the templars for your own army.

That looks goodly!!
On another note....
I have had nothing but bad luck with finecast stuff.....the castings are a nightmare and look like they have been cast with grit laden resin or whatever they use!!
Moi will be steering clear of the stuff till they sort it out.

I'm at your window

Looks good but the effects on the sword win.

Tali'Zorah: I appreciate what you're doing here, Shepard.
Commander Shepard: Well, I care deeply about the quarian people.
Tali'Zorah: It's good to be back on the Normandy.
Commander Shepard: Let me know if it's too quiet for you to sleep, and I'll find you someplace louder.
Tali'Zorah: Hmm.
Garrus Vakarian: Uh, I was there when you two had your thing, remember? Just get a room and work it out.

Thanks. I haven't converted the nice casts I got though and I just painted them as is (the two bald guys, one with a raised chainsword and the other pointing a bolt pistol). Having them in resin makes them soooo much easier to convert, and having crappy copies makes me want to convert them anyway. But I don't think I should credit GW for that.

Go buy your own! I'm intrigued to see what will your take be on them.

Three out of the five models I got on the box are good casts, and there was this Emperor's Champion model I've been eyeing for the longest time at our store that looks like it doesn't have problems except for the usual mold lines.

I heard the later casts are loads better, especially the new figures that were sculpted with Finecast in mind. I prefer working with resin since I convert a lot and it's easier to cut them up (sometimes too easy that it's detrimental). I wouldn't really mind changing all the metals into resin, as long as thy produce it in good batches of casts.

Thank you guys for the compliments!

I really like it, but, and this is just me being really anal and demanding, where is his psychic hood? I'm not complaining, or being an arse, it looks great, I love the sword as well.

Nice way to turn around a complete failcast into an amazing miniature!

Somewhere a BT player is getting all burn-the-heretic witchery...

This is a really nifty conversion, you seem to have a gift for salvaging resin.

I count the skull part on the back pack as his psychic hood, since I figured adding an actual psychic hood makes him look... unkightly. It's what I also did that with my previous librarian:

...yeah, my old libby kinda sucks. There's fluff written for that but I don't wanna bore you.

Ahh, that's a good concept, I like the old Librarian too, and hey feel free to expand the fluff, I like to know the back stories on characters, I like the whole theme you have going.

Well if you would notice I haven't cleaned the mold lines on my old libby, and the paintjob's kinda thick. At that time I thought he was a beauty, but now.... well let's just say I think I improved a lot.

To be honest I am not liking it very much, its a nice paintjob, but what makes him a psyker besinde some blue colour?

He hast absolutly no psyker feeling, a Psy-Weapon, some equipment or most important a hood would have been good.

Official GW SM Psykers:

What makes them look like psykers compared to my librarian? I was aiming for something on that level: a model that CAN represent a psyker but does not really flaunt its psyker-ness. As I have said, I consciously didn't add a hood: I actually converted one out of a space marine shoulder pad and it just felt wrong. It takes away the knighty-ness (if there is such a word) of the thing, so I used the backpack skulls to represent the psychic hood. Remember that original BTs don't have psykers on their ranks, so even if I'm using a codex that has psykers, I don't want the model to scream "Look, I can do psychic powers!" It's thematically unaligned.

Also, what constitutes as a psy-weapon? A staff? I need to represent a force weapon and a sword is just s good as an axe or a staff or a mace, really.

I'm just saying that not making it look like a traditional librarian is a stylistic choice. I appreciate the comment and I just want you to know the reasoning behind it.

The black templar player in me has a migrane forming at your use of a Sword Brethren model to make a Librarian...

However, it looks very nice. You did a wonderful job with it, man. I'll give you a 2 minute head start before I notify the Inquisitors...
