I quite like those bugs. I'm hoping there is a way to make them with six legs rather than four.

Maybe I can do some kitbashing with the spider kit to get some extra legs.

Noting that they discuss making the fluff for the bugs, is there an expanded Death Fields lore? My understanding was the entire lore could be summed up with "aliens take various groups, sci fi them up, and have them compete in battles". Is there a more in depth lore in play here?

This is set about 500 years from now so there are teams (like Ooh Rah) who are established well after the 21st century.
There's no time travel. A Roman team has been playing for 2500 years. Many teams are even older.
Humans on Earth and it's many colonies have no idea the larger galactic civilization exists. They've only found aliens of lesser technological ability or hints of higher tech worlds that are unpopulated and in ruin.
Weapons technology for the galactic civilization is far more advanced than what we see in the games.

AMA and I'll try to give answers."

Huh neat, I skittered along the edges of that then but didn't cross over into unworkable with mine. I mentioned once or twice "unknown" alien species but that is it.

I like the look so far of the “Alien Bugs” and have submitted my name/background. With luck we might convince WGA to make different castes so we can play up the Starship Troopers angle.

As was pointed out to me, they do look a bit like Defiance Games “alien bugs”.

Those look almost identical to Xcom2 Chryssalids:

They might be fine models from the practical point of view but I really don't like the way they look. Having spikes instead of proper insectoid limbs or the Raargh I'm A Monster Made By Americans faces are just not what I'm into. They're trying too hard at looking dangerous without being any good at it.

I have to ask - what is it about the monsters that gives away the fact that they were made by Americans?

If they were European they would be drinking tea and eating cheese.

I like the alien's chunkiness. Looks like it could take some hits and has enough bulk to keep on going.

The spacenam plastics are so bulky, I wonder how they'd look with Space Ork arms and heads.

I wish they had less spikes and more realistic insectoid limbs as well, but I'm afraid it is too late to change any of that, and I still like what I see.

I see the resemblance between the heads, but WA’s bugs look much better than the Defiance ones. The just 4 limbs thing is odd, and it looks like even the 3D sculptor has no idea how to pose them to make it look like they’re attacking. (The leaping attacks shown look like they’d fall over.)

But for kit bashing purposes, definitely worth a sprue for me. I’ll ditch the heads, keep all four legs on the ground, and slap on some insectoid torsos to make centauroid space drider insect aliens.

With the four legs, these insect aliens look like they'd make great mounts for a smallish race. I'd prefer sci-fi, but fantasy could work as well. Don't the WGA spiders come with a saddle for their goblins? Something along those lines would be fun to try.

My cannon fodder 2 box arrived.
Good stuff. I like the cyber limbs, could we get a few cyber right hands with a one handed weapon if there's a cannon fodder 3?

Well there is "Cannon Fodder Command and Heavy Support" which is currently in "sculpting status". So hopefully they can include more in that set.

It would be nice if WGA realized that it's really not necessary to double down on the big zippers for the Command / Heavy Support units too. Some people don't mind the big zippers, but no-one is demanding them, and I doubt anyone would miss them.
