I'm hoping to get some advice on adhesives. Basically, I cut off the bottom part of the clear plastic flight stands and super glued a magnet to replace the snipped piece. I also drilled a hole and installed a magnet in the resin base. Now, my problem is that the magnetic force is so strong that magnet attached to the flight stand is often seperating. The super glue bond is not strong enough.

Does anyone know of any adhesive solutions that are way stronger than the bond from superglue?

Thanks!

I use a fast setting two-part epoxy. Has a 30 second bond time or something along those lines and won't frost the transparent plastic on flight stems and the like.

I converted a bunch of Epic flyers for a client doing exactly what you're trying to do and had excellent success with the epoxy. Glue the model's magnet in first, making sure the epoxy is completely set, then stick the other magnet to it. Finally, a dab of glue on the flight stem and attach it to the magnet by setting the model on it, carefully balancing to make sure it's level.

You can make angled flyers this way if you glue the magnet on the flight stand at an angle, but there's the chance that they might not stay put. Keep the angles to 5-10* and you should be okay.

Quite a few glues are stronger than superglue.
Ironically, some of its weaknesses are due to the chemistry of its rapid curing process.
Several epoxies are stronger.

A '5 minute' epoxy will securely hold many magnets, and you can get several with a refractive index close to that of a clear acetate part like a flying stand, so they are almost invisible.

If you're attaching the magnet to a flight stand, you can get crystal clear epoxy (araldite is the UK brand) that sets in about 5 minutes, and grips effectively in 90 seconds. That'll be the stuff you want.

Araldite 2 part epoxy should do the trick. Very messy to apply though

Edit: Just read Winterdyne's reply. That'll teach me to use quick reply!

Lol, what about my response? I hit the nail on the head first, Winterdyne just hammered it flush!

I thoroughly recommend JB Kwik. It's a two part metal based epoxy that is tough as nails!
