I am having some trouble settling on something to use as a Sentinal stand in for my guard. My army is so far very thematic, more about the fluff than ability to compete. That said, fluffwise, it's an airborn army, similar to Elysians, but more like a ground army that has been forced to become air mobile. No elysian models or parts will be used. As many troops and vehicles as possible will have flame-based weaponry. I was thinking of utilizing the SM attack bike as a stand in, but feel it's too recognizable as not IG. Any ideas out there?

IG land speeder? If you can find one that is.

Ooh.... that fits perfectly with the fluff I was after. IIRC there was a similar idea on here several months back. I'll see if I can find a pic. Anybody got ideas for how one could scratch build the above speeders? I doubt I can find one for a decent price.

Is the model you mentioned the large suit in the center? For an airmobile army, that doesn't fit. Neither does the animals if that's what you meant. I have looked at the AT-43 stuff, I'm just never satisfied with it.

I looked for the picture I mentioned earlier, but couldn't find it. I don't even rmember what the model was from, I think it was from an anime, I know it had two large downward pointing fans at front and rear, mounted in ball sockets for manuevering. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Here's that speeder/bike I mentioned earlier. i may see if I can come up with a mix of the old rogue trader speeders, the Zeon Scout I've just found, and something else entirely. Any other possible ideas or any ways to build some of those ideas from scratch/kits would be appreciated.

Any chance of a parts list for that buggy in your last image? I could easily see that as a stand in for several things, a Tauros being one, it's gotta be cheaper than FW.

IG Dozer blade attachment rig; probably SM biker wheels will do, Something from an eldar tank and Im going to guess land speeder's back end.

I almost feel like suggesting going the war-walker design, only more parsed down. Very narrow, collapsible look, chin or side-mounted gun and not even a cabin for the rider.

Yeah, I agree with the cabinless, narrow, possibly collapsible view. For a further insight on my army, I will be creating elongated SM speeders to replace chimeras.

I just had a brilliant. Below is a crappy drawing, let me walk you through it. (I suck at rushed ms paint)

The entire model, when collapsed is probably 1.5 inch across (plus weapon hanging from side), 1.5 odd inches tall and 3 inches long. The idea is that the lower leg folds into the cover that protects the upper leg, and the two upper legs close together. A harness keeps the driver in place, and a small engine on the back keeps it powered.

The idea is to have something that unfolds to the side of a sentinel, but when stowed, three of these are smaller than a chimera. In principle this would be light-weight, and the fact that it can be stowed to be smaller than the sentinel, air-deployable. I've been working on this design in my head for a while now. I hope these pictures are self-explanatory.

Just a thought on Attack bike. I think too many people would think of them as rough riders. But if you can do the conversion they would look cool as rough riders.

I agree with this. What if you did attack bikes instead? I dont know if OP would be keen on that, but it adds a HW mount and stands apart from the RR

An IG landspeeder would be pretty easy to make actually. Start w/ a landspeeder storm & cut it down so that the engines butt up against the seats (so IOW remove the troop compartment). Maybe remove the hood & then set the gunner up w/ the heavy weapon on a pintle rail across his lap on a hinge to swing it out of his lap when it's time to disembark. That is, if you're interested in the landspeeder idea at all.

@Poda_t, yeah, I said/meant attack bike, not the standard bike of the SM. My RR's are gonna be something more like jump pack guard. The sentinal cut down is intriguing too.

Yeah, I'll give the collapsable Sentinal a go, but first I wanna try doing a speeder. I'll be receiving the parts for it next week.

Dude, your army sounds exactly like mine! I'm just going to use the basic sentinel model but cut off the top of the canopy like the FW Drop Sentinel, and probably muck around with the legs to make it seem more fragile.

Yeah, I love the idea, but Elysians are just too far beyond. They have too much of the best equipment.

As far as army theme, airborne flame infantry. Still need a name, but I'm kicking around stuff like Drakes or along those lines. Ooh, maybe Icarus' Legion?

Pretty much this. Its a falcon turret embedded in the rear end of a Landspeeder. I picked the bits of e-bay so it was reasonably cheap. The wheels are from an Old Crow AFV and are attached to Guard dozer blade mounts. The turret is an Old Crow mini turret with Attack Bike weapons trimmed to fit and there are a number of random detail bits added in for fun

I've got a couple Storms on the way, I'm gonna try and do the old RT style speeder with them. The rest of the storm I plan to turn into a truck-like vehicle, using spare parts from Chimera kits and some scratch magic.
