Composition
Commander Chenkov
Company Command Squad
2+ Conscript Platoons
Each Conscript Platoon consists of a Platoon Command Squad 2-5 Conscript Squads and 1 Deliverance squad for every unit of Conscripts. Each Deliverance squad counts as 3 Heavy Weapon Teams armed with Heavy Bolters. Each Conscript Squad must be led by a Commissar for +30pts, who may take any options available to standard Comissars. Unlike regular Conscript Squads, any Conscript Squad in this formation may purchase a single Grenade Launcher, Flamer or Meltagun for 10pts for every 15 models in the unit.
Special Rules
Creeping Barrage: The relentless artillery barrages that accompany the Conscripts often strike too close to comfort for the friendly troops. Chenkov cares not for the wellbeing of these troops however, seeing them as no more than rangefinders.
Any friendly weapon from the following list, regardless of the source may choose to fire at a target within 6” of a Conscript Platoon, regardless of the actual range to the target. However, all weapons firing in this manner count as firing a Barrage, even if they have Line of Sight to the target. These weapons may also fire directly upon a Conscript model without scattering, regardless of targeting restrictions, such as being locked in assault, etc.
- Mortars
- Earthshaker Cannons
- Colossus Siege Mortars
- Griffon Mortars
- Quake Cannons
- Apocalyptic Missile Launchers
In addition, Chenkov gains the following special order.
Brutal Justice: The Valhallan Commissars serving under Chenkov are particularly devastating towards cowards and traitors. It has been noted that executing these scum through generous Heavy Bolter fire before a difficult charge can spur the remaining Conscript cowards onto victory.
This rule is used at the start of the Imperial Guard movement phase, and it may be used once for every Deliverance unit within Chenkov’s Command Radius, and does not count towards the number of orders used per turn. Each Deliverance squad utilizing this rule will immediately perform an out of sequence shooting attack at any unit of Conscripts within range. After damage has been resolves, the affected Conscript unit gains the Fearless, Fleet and Furious Charge rules, lasting until the beginning of the Imperial Guard player’s next turn.
Sure, you'll need a bucket full of Guardsmen for this, and you'll probably kill as many as the enemy do due to Brutal Justice, but I think it would be pretty fun to use. What do you guys think?
