So I was thinking today....
Say I have a Stalker w/ Shredder andhe shoots at a unit. Say I place the large blast to hit 4 different units and it lands.
According to the rule for his array, as long as the shot hits at least ONCE on a unit, it gets the marker. Large blasts auto-hit.
Does this mean that if I shoot at any of the units hit by the blast then I'm twin linked or is it just the original target?

Large Blasts do NOT "auto hit", they roll to scatter first and THEN every thing under the blast is auto-hit
However you are correc tin that, anything hit results in T-L for the other units in your army.

Thats what I mean't; the units under the final scatter for the blast are hit.
Makes the Stalker look MUCH more appealing now

I agree - I considered the particle shredder application myself for two reasons:
A.) If you need to use him to twin-link your army, you are most likely firing at a heavy infantry unit or a horde. Vehicles only take one shot to pop, anything else is wasted firepower.
B.) The ability to multi-task and penalize players for concentrating their forces on one side of the table is appealing.
C.) If a unit has to disembark from their transport but is using it for cover, you can place the template to nick the tank while covering the squad, and whatever survives the blast will have much more firepower directed its way afterwards.
Overall I think all the options for the Triarch stalker are solid, for different reasons. As a TL support platform, i think the shredder is key. For longer ranged support (if you stick to mostly heavy destroyers and eldritch lances in your army) stick a heavy gauss cannon on him. The s8 ap1 2 shot melta is good for a mid-range tank hunter (but if the tank dies there's nothing left for twin linkage) but even better as a heavy flamer to melt infantry before assaulting in (and making them deal with AV13 on a walker).
Now we just need the kit for it! I want my spidery legged necron walker!

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it. |

I think as the TL platform is more solid overall than a tankhunter; the things melta is normally needed for Scarabs will do just as well.
I think a list using Destroyers, Stalkers, Barges, Maybe some Ghost Arks, and lots of tesla wielding immortals may be pretty sick. An entire army of high strength twin linked gauss/tesla goodness? hermmmm!

I think take the weapon with the extra range. 36" lets you stay behind your infantry, that wants to hover around the 24" mark.
If you take any gun with a 24" range, he'll have to be at least as close to the target as your own troops are. Something I would not like.

Main issue though is the 36" gun costs more, plus it would twin link just one unit at a time. With Shredder (and a couple stalkers) unless your opponent spreads WAYYYYY out you could effectively twin-link your army against theirs (plus a str 7 large blast is no joke!). yes, you'll be at 24", but it would mean your opponents spending precious firepower trying to take down the stalkers first or second rather than your barges, warriors, and arks.
Just something to think about

Scarabs are gonna die in a fire, literally (Heavy incinerator, yay!)
