Ollanius Pius - Savior of the Emperor

Gathering the Informations.

Once a disciple of Asurmen, first of the Eldar Phoenix Lords, Irillyth the Shade of Twilight founded the Shrine of the Shadow Spectres on the Craftworld of Mymeara. Drawn to the small Craftworld in response to a vision of doom and horror, Irillyth gifted the skills of stealth, swiftness and all-consuming firepower to the warriors of Mymeara. After many years, the Phoenix Lord led a great war host to the legend-shrouded world of Bethalmae to destroy a race that would, many thousands of years later, arise to threaten Craftworld Mymeara. Neither he nor any of his warhost ever returned to the Craftworld, and with the loss of their Phoenix Lord the Shadow Spectre aspect fell into decline.

Complete resin kit model designed by Simon Egan. The full background for this resurrected Phoenix Lord will be featured in Imperial Armour Volume 11: The Doom of Mymeara. Experimental rules for Irillyth can be downloaded here

Available here for preorder. Ships on November 28th, price of 14 GBP.

As per usual, I expect a FW Newsletter fairly soon. Will edit the title and content to reflect it.
The newsletter was, as you'd expect, just these two kits.

The only thing worth noting was the Christmas Shipping dates:

ELDAR PHANTOM TITAN POWER GLAIVE

Phantom Titans are deployed when the threat is dire indeed, and the weaponry of these mighty Titans varies depending on the nature of the foe they will face. When ranged against enemy super-heavy walkers a Steersman will commonly arm his Titan with a Phantom Power Glaive, a long and shimmering sword similar in appearance to those wielded by Eldar Aspect Warriors, using the Phantom’s speed and agility to close with and destroy their opponents.

Designed by Will Hayes, the Phantom Power Glaive is etched with Eldar runes to draw doom upon its hapless opponents, and also features a twin-linked Starcannon. This weapon can be mounted on either of the Phantom’s arms. This full resin weapon is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 28th November. The rules for this weapon can be found in Warhammer 40,000: Apocalypse.

I like the look of the Phoenix Lord. It's suitably ornate and cool looking, which isn't the case with the exarch for the same guys. I'm glad they didn't carry over the victorian woman in a corset super thin waist from the exarch over to this model... or at least its blocked by the position of the gun form view.

The Phoenix lord looks kick ass. I really like the style of the Shadow Spectres and can't wait to read up on them in the next IA.

The titan blade is anime, over-the-top big. But in a "this doesn't suck" way. Well done.

The Phoenix Lords look fabulous, but ridiculously unstable unless put onto a much larger base. I'd probably glue the entire thing (including 25mm base) onto a larger flying base, and tell opponents the larger base was 'invisible' for rules purposes.

I found a steel washer at home depot that was the same diameter as the bottom of the base and glued all my shadow specters to it. Makes them much more stable having that weight at the bottom and only adds a touch of height.

I don't have my codex with me, but I think it makes that aspect fearless when he joins the unit.

That, and they can only join squads of their aspect. So no joining him to Warp Spiders for example.

I am definitely interested - I was interested in SS when they first came, and now once again when they get a phoenix lord. I might have to buy from forgeworld soon...

I wish they'd just release the book already! Surely it has to be out before christmas, it makes no sense to release it afterward.

Yeah. If you don't order by Dec 5 in the US, you won't get it before Christmas, and I was wanting to read it on Christmas vacation, along with assemble the models I'm buying.

My group is waiting on this book before we do a large FW order.

Irillyth is very... tall, isn't he?

They could also do with clarifying his Spectre Holo-Fields rule a bit more. I admit, the resultant RAW argument ("No, he only gets a 4++ when he's 12" away from the firing model: he is 12.07" away, so he only gets a 5++!") would be amusing to observe, but would be silly. I presume this rule should in fact read "increasing to 4+ against attacks from 12" OR MORE" away, as I'd imagine image-distorting technology would be more effective at a distance...

"I reached down through my trousers, and groped for something concealed in my sock... it was my foot."

I lurk, therefore I am. DOOM DOLPHINS!

Well, that makes him the best Phoenix Lord there is. He's nothing to write home about, but that still makes him top dog of that poo-mountain.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

There are times I really wish I played Eldar. Still, should I ever decide to get one of those titans, I suppose I could "darken" it up a bit.

The PL looks awsome. I don't know how pratical he is for a game but the PL and SS would look awsome in a huge diorama. I do like the stories in the FW books, usually much better thought out and produced then the main GW studio IMHO,ymmv etc.

They do look awesome, if I ever collected Dark Eldar I'd get one of the Phantom Titans and make it all evil.

All Phoenix Lords are Eternal Warrior already its an invulnerable save that most of them are missing.

The Phoenix Lord is only £14? I think we've reached the point where Forgeworld is cheaper than Finecast, as a model like that would probably be £20-£25 if it was in Failcost.
